Death by Engagement

From the moment I discovered this series and author, I was hooked! I have read the entire series and enjoyed following Cindy and Mattheus throughout the Caribbean adventures! You feel like you are there with the descriptive language and knowing a bit about the islands and towns involved. I don’t pay a lot of attention to the person-type narration but hone in on the possibilities of becoming a part of the adventure myself. If you follow the series, you don’t get the sense of “been there, done that” from the previous books. The adventure is always exciting.

If I would have a con for the stories, I tend to be somewhat anal when it comes to things like spelling, details of characters (i.e., if it changes the names of who is commenting/talking say “Cindy” and the name is changed to “Mattheus”) – different times I have re-read the passage and realize it was an error on the proofreader who didn’t catch the problem, but solving it for myself, not a problem. I know some errors are on the part of proofreaders but can possibly be on the part of transferring from written to online formatting/spell checking. So to most it would not matter. Did that deter me–absolutely not! Most people read for enjoyment and not as an English instructor! ;)))

Unfortunately, although the story line is interesting, and the characters are entertaining, THE EDITING IS AWFUL !!! I hate to leave bad Feedback and this series of books is the first EVER for which I’ve left negative feedback. After reading the initial book in the series, I purchased the set of 12 volumes in this Caribbean Murder Series. The editing gets WORSE and WORSE as the series of books goes onward. Having struggled through 7 of them because I enjoyed the characters, I am finally throwing in the towel. I am NOT interested in reading books 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 (although Amazon will NOT refund my money because it is 15 days since I purchased) and I must say FOR SHAME on the Author: Jaden Skye for allowing good ideas to be presented in such a slip-shod manner. Not only excruciatingly BAD USAGE, but also confusion of character names. Nothing wrecks a story more than to have the main Detective’s name exchanged for the name of the Murder Victim, and then the Murder Victim’s name following in the next sentence. . .wait, who? REALLY BAD – NOT RECOMMENDED.

Spending a lot o money on this series, they all are turning into the same, girl solves mystery can figure out her own relationship, partner always to blame for their problems, always appologizing, nothing gets solved, just jots along same old, same old. Makes partner look like a dunce. Bad writing, sorry I bought into thinking the next book would be better. Never again for this author

Jaden Skye must not ever read reviews from her readers because most comments are about lack of someone to proof read the books. I’ll read the books I have but will not start another one of her series. The books are also becoming more about Cindy and Mattheus fighting and less about a murder mystery being solved. Hopefully someday Jaden or her editor will actually read reviews and do something. You have lost at least two readers now.

I have read up to this one and I am finding that I would like to see Cindy a little more fun..she is always so sercious and down on Mathaus..she doesn’t give him a break..I hope they r happy in one of the story lines.
