Unfortunately, although the story line is interesting, and the characters are entertaining, THE EDITING IS AWFUL !!! I hate to leave bad Feedback and this series of books is the first EVER for which I’ve left negative feedback. After reading the initial book in the series, I purchased the set of 12 volumes in this Caribbean Murder Series. The editing gets WORSE and WORSE as the series of books goes onward. Having struggled through 7 of them because I enjoyed the characters, I am finally throwing in the towel. I am NOT interested in reading books 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 (although Amazon will NOT refund my money because it is 15 days since I purchased) and I must say FOR SHAME on the Author: Jaden Skye for allowing good ideas to be presented in such a slip-shod manner. Not only excruciatingly BAD USAGE, but also confusion of character names. Nothing wrecks a story more than to have the main Detective’s name exchanged for the name of the Murder Victim, and then the Murder Victim’s name following in the next sentence. . .wait, who? REALLY BAD – NOT RECOMMENDED.

Death by Request audiobook in series Caribbean Murder

Like the books but author is going to lose a reader if she doesn’t get someone to proofread her e-books before selling them. I keep thinking someone on Jaden Skye’s staff or the author herself will eventually catch on but this is book eleven in this series and they are not getting any better. I’ve written a review for every book so either they aren’t read or they don’t care. In the future I will only pay for books that have more care put into them before being sold no matter how much I want to read the series. I feel like a teacher that needs to send a paper back to be redone and all I want to do is read a well written, proof read and corrected book. Extremely disappointing!!!!!

Audiobook Death by Request by Jaden Skye

I’m with LadyMax on this one, I like the characters, the setting, and the storyline, but the author’s writing and editing skills seen to grow worse over time. The only reason I keep reading this poorly written series is because I want to know the characters’ fates. Why, I don’t know as the characters are shallow, and predictable as is the plot. It’s been a long, boring romance from Cindy’s first husband’s honeymoon murder to Matteus’ proposal. I think I’m done with this series. I can only subject myself to so much bad writing.

Skye’s previously released books are so laden with typos and grammatical errors, it’s a struggle to read them. I can handle a few errors, but not as many as Skye has let loose onto the ebook realm. Skye’s sentences are cloyed with weird linguistic conundrums. She uses weak adverbs/adjectives, wrong prepositions, and repetitiveness. I’ve taken to highlighting the times she uses “beautiflul/y” nearly 60 times in this novel). Novel # 8 was the worst written ebook, by far.

Sadly Skye’s is a slipshod, hack writer who shows no sign of improving. You’d think with 11 books under her belt, there would be some grounds for improvement, but no. I can only conclude that she doesn’t seem to care about the reader at all. My only excuse for reading her books is that they were free, I had insomnia and used them as a sleeping aide. If you like simple, shallow romantic novella style murder mysteries, you’ll probably like this series.

Audio Death by Request narrated by Fiona McGuinness

The same old story in which Cindy and Mattheus investigate a crime in the Caribbean. They make the same mistakes as always, don’t trust each other like they should have learned to, the cops and powers that be are corrupt and trying to pin a murder on a convenient suspect. The only variables seem to be the island where it happens, what specific craziness the victim’s family exhibits, whether someone tries to kill Cindy when she goes on her last interrogation after putting together bits she got that somehow no one else got, and whether the obvious person did it.

That might be enough for light reading set in an exotic place, but I find that the lack of editing puts me off. Typos, missing words, baffling turns of phrase, and a romance that’s just too shallow or maybe just inadequately fleshed out for me.

Sorry, done with this series. I think this might be the third one I’ve read. I skimmed over it very quickly, but in my opinion one of the major problems is that we are constantly told over and over what the character is thinking and feeling and it’s always the same basic feelings. She never seems capable of any complex deep thoughts or plan ahead. She never surprises the reader nor does anyone really surprise the reader. The duo is constantly reeling with shock or amazement or sympathy or something when really it’s uncalled for. Shouldn’t they have learned a little bit by now and be a little more jaded? Surely real police officers or detectives are not as nave as these guys are even their first month on the job! I’d also like to see the characters demonstrating more of these feelings and behaviors so the reader can make his own conclusion, rather than making opencomments about these feelings over and over.

This particular book featured a mysterious toxin as the murder weapon. This was never named, and it made absolutely no sense that someone could have figured out this toxin before autopsy was finished. The first thing they should’ve been doing was tracing back the material and where it came from. However like i said they would never have discovered the toxin in the first place in real life.
