4.5 Stars!

Because I couldnt possibly write a review for each of these books individually, this is a review of the original Fever series (books 1 through 5). Not only would it be too difficult to review them on an individual basis, but it just wasnt going to happen because I couldnt stop long enough between books to even be bothered to write a review. I devoured these books.

This is so not my cup of tea. Im a traditional girl. I like believability, relatability, and normalcy. I like original and unique stories but ones that could happen in real life. Fantasy or paranormal? Usually, we dont mesh. This series is definitely an exception.

It did have drawbacks. It was long, at times very drawn out (mostly toward the end), and thoroughly confusing. I know it was the authors intention to keep us guessing and on the edge of our seats, but it got to the point where I had hardly any idea what was going on and it became frustrating. There are so many different facets to this story, so many unnatural laws at play, that its hard to keep everything straight. The game is constantly changing, theres so many players, and the board is unfathomably large. Every time you think youre winning, Moning has rewritten the rules.

But in her defense, it does keep you interested. You become desperate to know what happens. You root for good to trump evil and you rethink what it means to be either one. I was so drawn in to this story and the unforgettable, gripping characters.

Mac and Barrons are damn near perfection. Their chemistry is like nothing Ive ever experienced between two characters. This is the ultimate slow burn. It doesnt get any slower and hotter than these two. Their tension is so powerful. They make you feel so much by doing and saying next to nothing. They are unforgettable.

Take a step out of your comfort zone and read these books. You need to experience this world and these characters. Karen Marie Monings imagination is a work of art. I think if my brain was capable of creating a story of this magnitude, Id go insane. Its probably why she writes. Lucky for us.

Dreamfever audiobook in series Fever

This 4th book was just okay, nothing more, nothing less. The beginning was tiresome with all the sex talk or memories, I wanted to get to the action, to the meat of the story. Tired of Mac being so utterly helpless and waiting for the “fellows” in her life to get themselves together and make her first priority and come and save her. I know the author is building up to that point but did it have to take 4 or 5 books to accomplish that? But I still give it an overall 5 stars because the author can definitely tell a great story!

Review #3

Dreamfever audiobook by Karen Marie Moning

I am so impressed with this serious and with each book, I am amazed. As a writer myself, it is beautiful when you find a book where you can see through the words to how much work was put into crafting such a beautiful and delicious story. Being able to see Mac and all the changes that she has fought through is incredible.

Of course, this book continues where the last one left off and each book makes me crave the next one so much more. I didn’t dwell on this story for long and ended up moving quickly onto the next book. Karen Marie Moning made me hunger for more. I wanted to know what happened to Mac and Barrons and the entire world!

I highly recommend this series. It is one of the most thrilling rides that I have been on when reading a series!

Dreamfever audio narrated by Joyce Bean

Great story. The book was linger than the others by a couple hours I think, not that I mind.

Love spending time on page with Christian and Dani, though I hate Dani’s voice on the page. I know she’s 13, but whatever lol.

Mac and Barrons got a bit of quality time here. Ends on a cliffhanger, but all ends well, so don’t worry.

Book has usual maps, glossary, recipes, etc.

V’lane seems sweeter in this one like he is trying to prove he’s worth it. He and Barrons are jealous of each other, haha.

Love Ryodan too. Lots of great characters and so much crazy bad stuff is happening.

I’m really enjoying this series! This installment starts in a very dark place but you can’t keep MacKayla Lane down for long. I will say that there were some moments that wrecked me emotionally. I still can’t pin down Jericho Barrons! Don’t even get me started trying to figure out what’s happening with V’lane and Christian. I can usually see a plot twist coming a mile away but this series has managed to genuinely surprise me on multiple occasions. I loved Mac and Dani as sidhe seer outcasts! I really hope we get to learn more about Dani! She has become one of my favorite characters in the series. There are some nice revelations about Mac’s family but you’ll be left with even more questions about how everything will play out when you finish this one. I’m on to Shadowfever!
