How May I Offend You Today?: Rants and Revelations from a Not-So-Proper Southern Lady audiobook free

Let me start by saying I have zero social media presence and lack knowledge on who the “in or out” person is. The first 20 pages consisted of little tid bits here and there convincing her readers that she is not racist. Before moving onto chapter 3 I decided to do a bit of digging. Going to return this book as I don’t need this in the collection for myself or my children to reference. Amazed that Amazon is selling her material.

I am glad that she has her point of view but when she says we have a right to judge others if they cross a line that made me raise an eyebrow. My Bible tells me judging is not my place no matter what, because that is God’s job. The content just doesn’t align for me personally.

With all the positive reviews I was anxiously awaiting this book. Now I am just left disappointed and ready to get rid of this book.

How May I Offend You Today?: Rants and Revelations from a Not-So-Proper Southern Lady audiobook streamming online

Just like her last book Cant Make This Stuff Up, this book is great!! Savannah writes like youre having a conversation and youve been friends forever. She knows what she wants you to get out of her writing and once you do, you dont forget. Shes honest and open and smart and funny!! Shes not just a great writer, shes a teacher of Gods word and how to praise Him. This book is so good youre done before you know it and wishing you had another chapter. You will laugh a lot and feel the love she has for her family and for God. My favorite chapters were about Little Lionel and her sweet new baby and how her prayers were answered. Buy it for yourself but also friends and family. You wont regret it. Wonderful read!!

Audiobook How May I Offend You Today?: Rants and Revelations from a Not-So-Proper Southern Lady by Susannah B. Lewis

Can I give this book ten stars? Please? Susannah B. Lewis has done it again. In How May I Offend You Today?, she takes a humorous look at how we as a society look for ways to get offended and why judgment isn’t always a bad thing. Her stories had me laughing out loud and reading bits to my husband, because it was so funny he just had to hear it. But it’s not just humor. It’s Scriptural truth. Lewis uses humor to gently make the point that we need to be mindful of how we treat people, even when they’re going out of their way to get offended by life, the universe, and everything in it. God uses Lewis’ words to speak to me and remind me that I am far from perfect, and He’s got a little work to do on me yet.

Reading this book was like sitting on the porch drinking coffee with a friend – the best kind, the one who makes you laugh and who loves you enough to point out those areas where you have room for improvement. I recommend it for anyone who loves Jesus, loves to laugh, and wants to be mindful of how they can share that love and laughter with others.

I received an advance reader copy of the book from the publisher (and I bought it, too, so I can give a copy to a friend – it’s that good!). All opinions here are mine, and I don’t say nice things about books I don’t actually like.

Audio How May I Offend You Today?: Rants and Revelations from a Not-So-Proper Southern Lady narrated by Susannah Lewis

In a world of judgement and polarization on spectrums too many to count this book creates some joy and laughter that aligns us that as human beings we are in need of our sense of humor and the common denominators that we all share. I LOVED this book, I follow her on social media and I encourage anyone who may be having a bad day buy the book and take a moment to read and laugh! If we can’t find humor in the small things that we have in common then we will be truly lost. BUY this book and thank you Susannah!

I adore Susannah Lewis. I’ve followed her for a long time now, and after reading her FB posts and watching her videos, I just want to sit down with her on her front porch to chit chat like we’ve known each other for years. She’s so down to earth, and despite what her trolls may say, she doesn’t act like she’s better than anyone else. In her latest book, HMIOYT, she once again doesn’t fall short of giving the reader numerous laughs and literal laugh out loud moments for this reader. One of the things I appreciate and respect her for is when she points herself and others to Jesus she does so with humility saying she knows she herself falls short. Throughout this book is wisdom as well as some convicting moments for me (things I am currently struggling with). Thank you for that, Susannah!

I would have loved to see her elaborate more in Chapter 22 on pg 188 when she talks about Christians having bad days to the point of being depressed or downtrodden. She goes on to say she doesn’t “think it’s possible to be downtrodden and miserable all of the time…” As someone that struggles with anxiety and depression, I see what she’s saying, but I think we need to be cautious with this, too. I have moments where I don’t feel my life is so miserable, but we need to be aware of mental health issues and know that we can seek help. The church needs to be more open to this as well instead of putting people down for this serious issue. The church needs to support those struggling and encourage them to seek medical help, counseling, etc. Many people have experienced trauma in their lives that without proper medical help, they do not know how to “normally” function in this life. While it does seem like an oxymoron to thrive on neglect if you know Jesus (pg. 189), some of these people do not intentionally do this…it’s a chemical imbalance. Susannah even mentions taking her Lexapro, so I should hope she feels the same way, but I don’t want to assume anything (boy that gets me in trouble A LOT..ha!).

Thank you for such a great book, for what you stand for and knowing that we are to please God rather than men. May God bless you and your family in the advancement of His Kingdom for His honor and glory.
