Very Brief synopsis – Jared, the titular character, and Tessa meet in a very unusual way, when Tessa and her brother, Adam, break into the Council HQ to break out Jared’s prisoner, Chad. (We’ll come back to that little factoid.) Seems Adam and a group of other teens were rounded up, injected with a serum, and changed into half-breeds, a human/vamp combo. These hybrids have different strengths and gifts than the full vamps. Jared and the boys track down Tessa and Adam, Chad escapes again, and Adam and the Lost Boys are taken under the wing of the VC Warrior team. The Bad Guys are not willing to give back their prizes, and Tessa appears to be the grand prize. Jared is determined to keep her safe. What worked for me – Tessa is fiercely loyal to her brother, but kind of a mess otherwise. With reason, but a mess, nonetheless. She has not had good luck with men, having been betrayed by her ex-fiancée and her father. Can you say trust issues? Tessa is sarcastic, hiding her self-confidence issues under a tough girl exterior. When she sees Jared in a compromising position, she automatically assumes the worst. Jared is awesome. He has an easy, breezy manner that immediately puts people at ease. At least, until Tessa is threatened, then he goes all Hulk-like. He doesn’t care whether Tessa is his mate or not, he loves her. He wants her. He jumps through hoops of fire to prove it to her, and yet she still holds back. I found her unwillingness to listen to Jared hard to swallow, yet I can acknowledge the realism of her actions. Sid is a hoot, and I cannot wait for his book! Ms. Gabelman has a way with characters. She manages to imbue them with life, and a great deal of humor. The camaraderie of the Warriors is a highlight. I care about these characters, and I am enjoying their stories. What doesn’t work as well – The grammatical errors in this book are so pervasive, it becomes hard to focus on the story. Not because I am a grammar stickler, even though I am. Little things like commas can change the whole meaning of a sentence. When a reader is forced to go back again and again to ascertain the author’s intended message, it becomes a chore to continue slogging through an amateurish work. That said, having read the 3rd book, I can say that the author has apparently enlisted some expert help in this area. Good for her for recognizing her need for improvement. There is no depth to this story, or in the first of the series. We have no backstory for the heroes, beyond Damon’s reasoning for not wanting a mate. We don’t know how old they are, where they are from. how they ended up as vampires… I don’t want an info dump, but a few lines would help flesh out the characters, and clarify their motivations. If I ever end up as a bad guy Vamp, I want to be in Cincinnati, the jurisdiction of our Warriors. These guys don’t do anything proactive. Except finding Tessa, I will give them that. Going back to Jared and Tessa’s first encounter, how did a girl and her brother break into this bastion of Warriorness? These guys may be badasses in a fight, but they suck at investigation. And general security. Bottom line – It’s a heck of an accomplishment to put pen to paper, or fingers to a keyboard, and come out on the other end with a published work. Kudos for that. I can only hope as the author continues to write, her work becomes more fleshed out, and more polished. The characters are great, but the writing struggles to convey the story. But the characters are GREAT. I am invested in them, and as mentioned, have already read the third book and purchased the fourth.

Alpha vampire warriors with an exaggerated protective mode for the women in their care. All the warriors have a tendency to go ballistic when their specific mates are threatened, even minutely. They are the Vampire Council Warriors. Brothers in deed to fight against evil. They have operated for centuries to capture, contain, and dispense justice to renegade vampires. Now, the vampire race has declared themselves. They no longer live in secret, but actively live dispersed within human society. This has made the VC Warriors visible to the public, making their jobs more difficult. The books have strong personality profiles and interaction between the different warriors. It is fun to read the comradery between them. It is also fun to read the bonding between the women as each book brings in a new mate. Each book has a complete story. Each book leads to the next without cliff hangers. The first question I ask when reviewing books is if I enjoyed them. Yes, I did. These are feel good, happy book with quirky funny things, and steamy sexual situations. This is the second book of a warrior protector series. Jarod is an alpha warrior with rather a sweet, quirky personality. He is one of the main warriors in the series. If you have read book one, you will already have a fondness for this warrior. Tessa is the sister of Adam who was a human teenager captured, and with the use of drugs, turned into a manmade half-breed; part human, part vampire. He, along with a few others have taken refuge with Tessa. She is fearless in her protection of her brother, and will do anything to help him get his life back. Jarod meets Tessa when she and Adam break into the warrior complex to steal the prisoner they think has information about the half-breed transformations. Jarod and Tessa fall in love, mate and live HEA… happily ever after.

Audiobook Jared (The Protectors #2) by Teresa Gabelman

This is the second book in the series. We are told the story of Jared and Tessa. I liked the banter between the two of them and I loved her insults ( bat-shit is my favourite). What I love about this series is that the characters from the previous are also in this story. I have gotten over my initial thought about this being a BDB cheap knock-off and getting into the series. The story was fast -paces with heart-stopping and LOL moments especially the banter between the Warriors. My only gripe is the this book does not have any page numbers ( I know I am nit-picking)also I would like to have been given more back-ground about the Council and who makes it up and the back story of each member. I plan to read the whole series.

Audio Jared (The Protectors #2) narrated by Jeffrey Kafer

As second book of this amazing series you couldn’t help but love the beginning, hijacked and held hostage in his own interrogation room Jared is mesmerised when a fiesty red head and her accomplice kidnap his prisoner looking for their own answer’s, chained to a chair with silver is not often someone get’s the jump on him. Tessa and her brother are trying to discover what has been done to Adam and what the evil men who kidnapped them wanted to turn Tessa into a breeder, luckily escaping before her treatment is done they search for answers. Jared takes pleasure in hunting down the vixen who has already made his emotions twitch and when they work together to fight the evil human trafficking ring and rogue vampires trying to create a vampire half breed army to defeat the VC Warriors. As they discover each other and their new erotic romance starts they both battle with strong conflicts which threaten to ruin their new love, together they must overcome their fears and make the choice together to embark on a highly sexual and hot encounter’s as they discover their love for each other. Amazing story to this series, non-stop action packed, full of witty humour and fabulous supporting background characters you are pulled into a world of bad ass sexy vamps who cannot help but bow down to their mate’s as they discover life will never be the same and their new worlds of joy and excitement.

After reading book one in this awesome series, I couldn’t wait to start this next book. Each character is equally loveable, they all have a body to die for, and protect each other with their lives. To be able to read each story about these characters I have become to love is just epic. Each book bringing a new story with all the qualities I found immensely appealing from the very start. Jared Kincaid is not someone you want to mess with. I thought Damon was bad in a incredibly good way of course but Jared is just as determined to protect what is his. I love how they each have each others backs, not one warrior would walk away from the other. It’s a pact that can not now or ever be broken. When Jared first set eyes on the lovely, feisty Tessa he couldn’t believe it. Not only did she manage to get him tied to a chair but she had his complete attention. Trust me that is no easy feat for these warriors but oh when you catch their eye, that’s it, you will belong to them, they will hunt you down no matter where you are. Tessa has a sad story to share and is very protective of her brother, Adam and vice versa, these siblings are very close. Adam needs help and Tessa will do whatever she can to get him that help. She doesn’t trust easily but being left with little choice she must accept some help from the warriors. Even though the book tells you a story of another warrior it also includes all the others who have been previously introduced. I love that each book takes you through everyones lives because honestly I can not pick just one that I love. Each story is intense but loving and the humour, Oh My God!! The one liners Sid throws out having me laughing out loud. I can’t help but love these characters, they are so well developed, giving you the feeling that you really know them. Jared’s book is a must read. I know if you read book one, you will definitely be picking this book up and you won’t be disappointed. I know I keep saying all paranormal readers will love this series but even if you love a good romance this book has all the elements to keep you entertained. TRY IT!!
