Lawyer X

If you’re into Australian true crime and particularly the Melbourne Gangland War then this book is for you. It blows the lid on how one woman, lawyer Nicola Gobbo, played an integral part in ending the bloodshed and continuing feud! She was the go-to lawyer for main underworld players such as Carl Williams and Tony Mokbel, yet secretly was informing on her own clients! Playing both sides against each other Nicola was smack bang in the middle, ethically, morally and on the edges of illegality she risked her life in spilling the beans!
Explosive read, can recommend this book highly. Five stars!

I am still reading lawyer X. I have not yet finished reading it because it is very intense. It shows how the police behave with their informers and it tells of Nicola Gobbo’s role dealing with the underworld and being a police informer herself. It has made me really sad at times, I feel as though I am intruding into her life. I have no feelings for the police, but I do have for Nicola Gobbo. Whether that was intended by the authors I don’t know. Nicely written and worth reading.

I found this to be a very good read. I enjoyed the fact that the authors called a spade a spade no matter who they were speaking of. The authors did not shy away from revealing the true gritty side of all the parties involved whether it be Victoria Police, Nicola Gobbo or the criminals she informed on. Despite the fact that it is a dark chapter in Melbourne’s recent history, it also managed to show all sides of it with complete objectivity. A very well written and riveting book.

Great read. Very well written and gives a really thorough explanation and understanding of the whole Lawyer X saga.
