I admit at first I struggled with some of the language and verbiage as an American reader. The characters and main heroine are not the type that you love without question or unequivocally, they are dark and tortured. The slow build of their strength and bonds as the plot grows more and more intricate begins to endure them to you. There is violence, torture, sexual assault and cold murder and thats just the main character. The worlds built within these books all have beauty and crushing cruelty in equal measure. The heroine makes horrible mistakes and dark choices that break her and will bruise your heart. There are times you may hate her but you will question what else she could have ever done. There are times you want to kick everyone involved, but what else should they have done. In the end, the path was walked, or crawled upon that brought them to where they needed to be.

The first book in this series is how I first learned about Rosemary Johns and her amazing story telling. With all of the books there were plot twists left and right, and everyone had their own story to tell. This Reverse Harem series told the story of everyone from Violet, to Ash, to Rebel, to even the Devil himself having a past that they needed to heal from. Who each had a choice that was taken from them, and then by combining together they were able to actually heal, and find out just how much stronger they were together than they were apart. This series has love, lies, betrayal, strength, weakness, and enough heat to melt your kindle and I absolutely LOVED it!

Rosemary’s Rebel Angels made me want to rebel, and I’ve read every single book since and keep waiting for each new book to come out. She brings these worlds to life unlike many I have read in the past and has earned a special place as one of my favorite authors in this day and age!!!

Audio Rebel Angels (Rebel Angels #1-5) narrated by Rebecca McKernan

I wish I would have looked at the reviews for this book before purchasing. Like other readers/listeners I don’t understand why they decided to play music in between each chapter. It is distracting and takes away from the continuity of the book. Sometimes I like to follow along with the actual book. I tried to just read it instead of listen because the music was driving me crazy. The story line is very choppy. I only made it to Chapter 5 and quit. Since I had the Kindle version, I only had to pay $7.50 for the audio book, but I still feel like I wasted my money. I will never attempt to listen to this again. It was just horrible.

Vampire Huntress:
Im not sure if I love or hate the people in this book. They have so many different things about them.

We will start with Violet (Feathers). I love how nerdy and geeky she is. Shes kind of bad ass and has been through a hell of a life. She is doing everything she can to survive, though she could have done more to get out of her situation and to get her sister out too. Anyways, shes born of two incredibly powerful creatures. Angels and Vampires (Fallen Angels). She starts to come into her powers at 21 and doesnt know whats happening. Then an Angel falls into her lap, literally, and throws her into a world that abandoned her and now wants to get her back. This is where Im not so sure I like her. She gets very whiny, controlling, and bitchy towards those who are, presumably, trying to help her. She thinks she can own people and treats them like garbage. She sits there self righteously judging Rebel and his family but she really isnt any better. At least they actually love him, in their own way.

Okay, so next we have Zachriel (Rebel). This angel literally falls into Feathers lap and effectively turns her world upside down. Hes a punk angel and makes me so happy with his look and happy go lucky outlook, most of the time. Hes giddy and bouncy and fun. He wants a family and wants to be loved. Who doesnt? He is trying to help Feathers to learn to hunt and to control herself. So all in all a good guy, right? Heres where I dont like him. He lets everybody abuse him. I mean everybody. His family physically and sexually abuses him. The angels abuse him. Feathers abuses him. He never stops any of them. He has no back bone. He flips sides so easily because he wants to be loved so much that he trys to please his brother and dad, who have fallen, even though hes under he charge of the angels still. Hes a mess. An adorable one that I still like.

Then you have Ash. This guy is a total geeky, nerdy fallen. I adore him. Hes full of sass and attitude. He cares about his friends and also tries to help Feathers. Hes a tech and a totally Buffy nerd, which just makes my heart happy. Hes also a seducer, which was an interesting twist. I didnt have an issue with him until he walked away from her to the people who control him. Even then, I understood. He was right in what he said and honestly his choices werent good ones.

The witches were straight up horrible people. I dont care how you spin it. They were manipulative, abusive, and disgusting. I dont care that they loved him in their own way. They were horrible people, all the horrible things they did to people, and to Rebel, and tried to do to Feathers. Rebel has Stockholm syndrome like nothing else. That poor kid.

Drake is next. Hes a hot as sin angel. Hes evil. Hes a torturer. He hurts Rebel and likely more like him. However, Im pretty sure hes abused as well. He will allow Feathers to hurt him but delights in hurting Rebel.

This whole Angel world is severely messed up. Angels are messed up wether they are fallen or not. Im going to continue as I got the set and I want to see where this goes but…

Okay. I started book two and I give up. I cannot keep reading this. Violet is a horrible person and the way this whole world is built its just one sick bullying, manipulating routing on top of the next. Its disturbing and I just cant keep reading it. I had hoped it would get better but theres no love or kindness in these books. Its all hate and abuse and torture and nobody gets out of it. Im sorry but its not my thing. Im sure others will like them Im just not that person.
