The number of positive reviews for this book boggles my mind. I love a good “heroine gets embarrassed by a disaster” trope, so this seemed promising, but the story quickly derailed in a number of ways:

-The book is marketed as erotic romance. It is not. There are two fairly short love scenes.
-Despite being a CEO of a toy company, not being a romance reader, and having seemingly no background in BDSM, apparently the hero is an expert editor who somehow knows exactly how to fix the heroine’s book.
-The whole premise of them being together/getting to know each other is that he’s supposed to help her learn/experience BDSM so she can write it more accurately. There’s a single spanking scene and that’s it as far as BDSM goes. By the time you get to the end, that whole plot line has fallen by the wayside.
-The playboy goes from cold-hearted to wanting to marry and knock up the heroine in about 5.6 seconds. His severe relationship baggage is resolved in a five-minute conversation with his mother.
-The treatise on self-publishing was ridiculous and distracting. Some indie authors do make good money, but an average of $10k a month for a new author? Yeah…no.
-Typos galore.
-The author falls into the trap of making the hero’s voice more “man-like” by making him curse in his internal monologue–constantly. I’m fine with cursing, but it loses its punch if you use it all the time.
-Unless the women are on the hero’s “side” (e.g., his mother, the heroine, his assistant), all of the women in this book are stereotypical horrible shrews to be despised.

Bottom line, I think the author tried to tackle too much within the scope of a novella, but published it anyway. I know she’s writing a series, but she really should’ve shelved this one until she could figure out how to make it work.

This is a standalone read with a HEA. One reviewer said it was chunks of a story with a cliffhanger. We did not read the same book. This is a complete story with a HEA. Even the dog had a happy ending. He too got the girl. It is a delightful entertaining read. I really expected a lot of erotica but that wasn’t the case. There are sex scenes but not nearly as graphic as some I have read. The heroine just writes erotica she doesn’t live it. She is single.

The heroine is a young woman that works for a very successful toy company. She is not given a lot of work so she has time on her hands. She writes erotica in her spare time. She is 23, rather plain and doesn’t dress to excite the opposite sex in fact she has never really had much of an interaction with the opposite sex. She is smart, graduated at the top of her class with a double major. Now, writing books is a big secret. Her friends wouldn’t even guess that she would be capable of writing such wild hot sex since she has never been with a man and is so shy she has not dated at all. Her best friend is B.O.B.

The hero is the CEO of the company. He is gorgeous, sexy, smart, and would never look at the likes of her. He always seems to have a beautiful model type on his arm at big functions. So when he starts to show her attention she is not sure what is going on. Then one day in the break room she picks up his folder full of contracts and he gets her folder full of the latest print out of her newest book. He reads it and it is Game On. it is a fun romp and these two get to know one another and start the journey of their HEA. For once, we have a delightful mother as she keeps her son in line. His secretary/receptionist is a hoot and a half. I loved her! She was a regular bulldog. A delightful story and I definitely recommend it.

One thing I really liked about this story was that Cassie, the heroine, is a writer so you get a small bit of what it is like to go with a big publisher, if you can get your foot in the door. And then why she is self-published and how that turns out. it was very informative as so many of the writers on Amazon have gone through these same things. And, one should always have a good friend to edit the book. 🙂

It was definitely a fun read and I really enjoyed it. I definitely recommend it.

I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this writer. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

Audiobook Shy Girls Write It Better by May Sage

A little disappointed with this one.
A great start and just starting to build you up and get interesting and you drop dead into a finish.
Why didn’t the Halloween party continue ?
What happened about finishing the book ?
The proposal that never happened when it was dropped dead.
There was so much more content that could have been used here and a very full and meaningful book would have emerged.
A little disappointed but a great start, remember a book has a start, a middle and an end then sometimes even an epilogue, unfortunately this one only has a start.
That said enjoy it.

Audio Shy Girls Write It Better narrated by Erin deWard Noah Michael Levine

I love this book, I love the series, but I still feel like theres something missing every time I read it but I cant put my finger on it. Its worse this time after just reading Diplomacy by May. The characters in this book are brilliant and you become completely invested in them. The story line is clever and funny. Overall the book is great and well worth reading.

The story:
Cassandra works in accounting for a boss who is a bit of a female dog to her. Carter owns the company. The top floors of the building are being re-carpeted so he and Trick choose to use offices on the ninth floor. Carter picks the office near Cassie, who is painfully shy, clumsy and beyond interested in him.
Cassie helps with the coffee machine when the Carter and Trick cant work it, she mistakenly takes Carters paperwork and he takes her manuscript for her latest naughty book.
Carter cant believe that shy innocent Cassie could surprise him but she does. When she realises the only place her book could be she worries shes about to be fired but he helps her with the book….

I really liked this book. Good story, likable characters, good chemistry and what is more: well-written, hardly any spelling mistakes and nice English without irritating Americanisms. Because of this book I read the other three in this series. I liked them all. Although the stories were similar they were not repetitive (believe me, I have read books in the past where whole paragraphs were copied from one book to another in a series). On the whole I am glad I have bought these books.
