Debbie Peterson has a gift for telling a tale of impossible romance. Part of the delight in her books is sharing the journey and wondering how she\’s going to bring about an ending that leaves the reader with a contented sigh. If you\’ve read her previous book, SPIRIT OF THE REBELLION, you know she enjoys pairing a hero from the past with a heroine in the present. In the case of SPIRIT OF THE REVOLUTION, we get Mathias McGregor, leader of a band of Pennsylvania Rangers/spies who support the Patriot cause and are called upon to deliver intelligence to George Washington. Unfortunately, before they can fulfill their assignment, they meet an untimely end at the hands of the Redcoats. Fast forward to the twenty-first century where Jolena Michaelsson, a renowned violinist, has bought the house where Mathias and his rangers linger in ghostly form. It isn\’t\’ long before Mathias and `the boys\’ introduce themselves. What follows is a mix of romance, mystery, genealogy, history and adventure. Like Jolena, I fell in love with the boys immediately, especially Mathias and his closest friend, Sam. There\’s a particular scene near the end that had me reaching for Kleenex and pleading right along with Jolena. It was late, but I couldn\’t put the book down until I finished it and reached that impossible how-did-she-pull-it-off satisfying ending. I highly recommend SPIRIT OF THE REVOLUTION for anyone who enjoys an engaging read offering a unique blend of romance and history with characters who will steal your heart!

Another great read by Debbie Peterson. I enjoyed this story and I love the interaction between the spirits of past and present day living characters. This book has everything from the damsel in distress with her trusted best friend and confidant and the hero with his band of ever loyal sidekicks. Ms. Peterson researches all of her novels extensively and I love the historical aspects in each of her books. I read some reviews that mentioned some historical discrepancies but please keep in mind this is a work of fiction. What I personally love about this particular book is that I couldn\’t wait to get home from work, snuggle up on the couch and lose myself in a fantasy world of which I couldn\’t wait to turn to the next page! My only disappointment as with all of Ms. Peterson\’s books is that the book had to end.

Audiobook Spirit of the Revolution by Debbie Peterson

I admit, I ordered one of Debbie Peterson\’s books on a whim because it was free. BUT I AM HOOKED! I have to hand it to you Debbie, I have now read 4 of your books and they are amazing stories. It is very hard to put your books down and actually get some sleep at night. I just can\’t get over the depth of your stories and the adventure. SO engrossing. Please don\’t stop writing!

Audio Spirit of the Revolution narrated by Lee Ahonen

This was the first book I read by Debbie Peterson and after reading the last page I immediately downloaded her book Spirit of the Rebellion. I\’ve never done that with an author before! I do genealogy research, love mysteries of the past and ghosts so this book had me hooked right from the beginning. Debbie has a wonderful writing style that made the book so believable and natural that it was like I was living the story right along with the characters. Debbie\’s book Spirit of the Rebellion is my all time favorite book (and I\’ve read many!). I\’m looking forward any new books she comes out with.

I \”bought\” this book when it was offered for free and am now wishing I could go back and give the author her purchase price and then some. It would be more than worth it. I found myself sneaking time away from real life to visit with Jo and the boys. I was sad to have to say goodbye when I got to the end. This is my first Debbie Peterson book and I look forward to seeing what else she has has to offer.
