I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and I couldn’t wait to read about Lowe and Melinda. I knew that their story would be tumultuous and fireworks.

I wasn’t wrong about the fireworks with these two characters. Their fire and ice relationship was a fun journey to take. I love a love-hate, enemies to lovers story.

Melinda’s best friend, Morris D, plays a big part in this story. And if I’m honest, his character was fun at first but then was a bit of a mood killer for me. The author went too overboard with making him a cliche’ black male. His character was too heavy in stereotypes instead of being his own unique character. Unfortunately, this aspect pulled from me really loving this story.

Overall, I enjoyed this enemy to lovers, chuckle-worthy story. I will definitely be reading the next one in the near future.

Im not a fan of the real author, Sawyer Bennett; most of her stuff is just filthy, morally corrupt. The first story in this series was a pleasant surprise, actual romance without anal, threesomes, drag queens, tranny or token gay friend etc.,but this one lacks everything, and of course she went back to her normal and threw in a drag queen to dismantle the morality of a small, old fashioned southern town. Plus, she named her main character after the Rothschilds, ANNND she kept repeating that last name. In reality people despise the Rothschilds; theyre Luciferians, nick named, Satans soldiers, and have done nothing but steal from us, and commit crimes against humanity, against us for generations. So again, she couldnt help herself, and went back to her old ways, Illuminati much?

Audiobook Stubborn as a Mule by Sawyer Bennett (writing as Juliette Poe)

Stubborn as a Mule (Sex & Sweet Tea #2) by Juliette Poe
4 stars!!!

I am not, however going to make this a pleasant experience for Miss RothschildIm not going to make this easy on her.

I love Sawyer Bennett and have totally fallen in love with her alter ego, Juliette Poe. Juliette Poe is the lighter, softer side to Sawyer Bennetts writing and with this series has delivered some honest, real, swoon worthy romances and Stubborn as a Mule is no different. After reading the first book in this series, Aint He Precious, I was already intrigued with Lowe Mancinkus and knew that his story would undoubtedly be a good one, and it was. With small town folk, a couple to die for, and a New York drag queen, Juliette Poe delivered something for everyone, hilarious, a little angst, a gorgeous romance all delivered with beautiful writing that will keep the reader invested from the very beginning.

I mean, whats not to like about the kind of man who shuts a woman up with his lips?

From Aint He Precious we knew all about Lowes love affair with the old family residence, Mainer House. Now that the beloved property is in new hands Lowe is finding it hard to let go of the house and the history that goes hand in hand with it. Having been sentenced to hours and hours of labour to rectify the damage he had caused on his one man crusade, it isnt long before he finds himself having to spend more and more time with his arch enemy, the new owner, Melinda Rothschild.

Melinda Rothschild is an extremely wealthy woman, but rather than the trust fund that her family has given her she loves to make her own money flipping houses and through her own well established interior design company. Mainer House is her most recent purchase and most would have been put off by the less than stellar welcome that she has been given, but Melinda is made of stronger stuff. Mainer House is more than just a flip though and as this book progresses I couldnt help but love Melinda. Melinda is way more than the society rich girl that everyone assumes she is, she is just a normal woman trying to do something for herself. Yes, she could be hard headed, but only when needed and when she thought that someone was doing her wrong. Melinda was incredibly motivated, was a true and reliable friend and was just simply adorable.

Lowe was everything I expected and a whole lot more. Lowe was a hard worker, fiercely loyal and a good ole Southern mommas boy. What I loved the most though was that he held his hands up when he realised he had made a mistake. The more and more time that he spent in Melindas company it was apparent that his first impressions were definitely the wrong ones.

I kiss a woman who I am pretty sure was brought into my life for a reason other than taking something away from me. I think Im actually getting a lot more than I lost.

These two sizzled on the pages, the chemistry was one that gobbles you up as you become invested in that initial game of push and pull. There is a fine line between love and hate and with these two their constant bickering was just the precursor or starter before the main course. The dialogue and banter as ever was on point and it is this that really injected that spark into the pages. The dialogue flowed with such honesty that I could picture myself in the little town of Whynot totally submersed with the secondary characters, the gossip and all the little businesses that kept this town thriving.

Im only here because Lowe is here, and I want to see him. End of story. Or beginning.

Juliette Poe delivers a slow burn, cute, love/hate romance with fantastic secondary characters, family values, nosey neighbours in a stunning small town setting. I laughed, I cried, I swooned, everything you expect in a romance. This one ticked a lot of boxes and was a book I couldnt put down once I had started. Loved it!

Audio Stubborn as a Mule narrated by Lance Greenfield Stephanie Rose Stephen

**Advanced copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review**

Welcome back to Whynot, NC! All of our favorites are back in this second book, but never fear, if you didn’t read the first book, you can certainly read this one as a standalone and you won’t be lost at all!

Lowe Mancinkus is fit to be tied that a home that has been part of his family for years now belongs to someone else. Because of that, he might have painted a few parts of the house loud, bright colors, which landed him in front of Whynot’s judge with his sister defending him. When he can’t keep his mouth shut in the courtroom, the judge decides that the best punishment is to have to deal with the new owner of the house and help her with the repairs she needs done on his own time.

Melinda (Mely) Rothschild was born and raised in New York City and she knows nothing but that life. When she finds herself in Whynot ready to work on the Mainer House that she’s recently purchased, she’s in for a whole new way of life. Things in the South are much different than they are above the Mason-Dixon line and when she’s forced to work with the man who used her house as his personal canvas, she is not ready for him or for what he makes her feel.

As Lowe and Mely begin to work together, they form a truce of sorts as they figure out the other really isn’t as bad as they initially thought. They spend more time together and slowly they are finding reasons to be around one another instead of running the opposite direction. The question is can a relationship grow while they are dealing with gossiping town folk and Mely’s best friend who comes to town?

This was a fantastic story with a slowly built romance that you knew was going to erupt into a five alarm inferno when they finally gave in. There is so much to love about the supporting cast of characters in this tiny North Carolina town and Juliette Poe infuses the story with so much wit and sass you can’t help but love it! I enjoyed this trip back to Whynot and I’m looking forward to the next one!
