James Grippando is one of my favorite authors and I have read all of his books starting with the first one. Each one better than the next. Jack and company are some of the best characters in the genre. I was so excited to get the new book. However, after having read the first 40 pages or so, I realized, once again, that an author that I really enjoy is trying to push his political agenda onto me. I read for enjoyment nor for politics. I have my own political agenda and I do not force feed it to anyone. Therefore, why so I have to spend money to have the author’s politics shoved down my throat. This is now the 4th author on my favorites list that has done this. I always like to give them a second chance. I did this with 2 of the authors and nothing changed; therefore, I no longer read them. So they have lost a loyal customer. Now 2 more authors are on a second chance. Guess I will have to wait and see what happens. Oh by the way, threw this book in the garbage!

The Girl in the Glass Box audiobook in series Jack Swytek

I have read this entire series and this book was just disappointing. I almost did not buy it after reading some of the reviews but since I have always enjoyed the Swyteck series, I decided to buy it. I should have listened to the reviews. First, Jake’s personality is basically non existent in this book. This was really more of a diatribe on the immigration system and policies than a legal thriller. Many of the situations are simply unrealistic particularly in the timeframe allotted. Many situations particularly with the 2 male characters seemed unrealistic and really forced. The whole book makes little sense and the main female character is not likeable. The name of the book is a misnomer as it is really not about the girl in the glass box which was a total overreach and then suddenly the topic is dropped. The resignation syndrome- really?? If it want to read about immigration and its issues, I can watch TV, read the news etc. – I do not want to read it a novel particularly when it is presented in a totally one sided manner.

Audiobook The Girl in the Glass Box by James Grippando

This was a repetitious novel that had no plot, characters or gripping scenes. After the first 20 or so pages it was same song second verse. How many ways can you say no asylum.

Audio The Girl in the Glass Box narrated by Ron McLarty

James Grippandos Jack Swyteck series is great. In this episode a very critical issue is front
and center Immigration. Illegal immigration is a legal, national security, financial and humanitarian
problem. However you view illegal immigration, many of the people who try to get into America
are so desparate they are willing to risk deportation, and even death. Whatever they are fleeing is that bad.
Julia Rodriguez and her daughter [ the Girl in the Glass Box ] are some of these unfortunate people.
Jack is dragged into representing the 2 by his Cuban immigrant grandmother. This is a gripping legal
thriller like the rest of the Jack Swyteck stories. Some of the technicalities of immigration law will make
your head spin.

Loved the suspense, and that I learned something new about how many unfortunate people in other countries are forced to live. I found myself explaining parts of this book to other people several times because they moved me or astounded me so much. It talks about what its like to flee from war torn, gang controlled countries, the issues faced when dealing with ICE, and other struggles immigrants face. In todays world, these are things we all can stand to learn something about. Jack Swyteks character is always getting into deep situations and this plot is no exception. There are twists and turns and plenty of wondering whats coming next. The characters are, as always, rich and complex and theres plenty of subtle humor between the action.
