I absolutely LOVED this story! I am a huge sports romance lover and this NA football romance hit the spot! I both listened and read this one, but I enjoyed the narration so much that I often went back to chapters I read just so I could listen to it as well. This book was so playful and hilarious! I could completely relate to the horror that Kayla experienced upon finding out the sexy stranger she was falling for attended and played for her school\’s rival. Anyone who is a die hard fan can understand the conflict and confusion poor Kayla was faced with, especially given how she came into this world (what a prologue!) LOL I think my enjoyment of the story mainly revolves around my own unwavering love for my alma mater (GO BRUINS!) and the deep loathing I have for our cross town rivals (boo! hiss!). Listeners/readers who aren\’t quite as \”enthusiastic\” fans might not find Kayla\’s reactions quite as endearing as I did. Carson Beck is a new narrator to me, but I thought his narration as Jay was fantastic! He embodied the confident and sexy tight end, but also gave him just the right amount of sweetness and vulnerability. Stephanie Rose was also amazing, delivering Kayla\’s sass and snark perfectly! I loved all of Kayla\’s jabs at Michigan and how despite her love for Ohio State, she tried so hard to be supportive of Jay (in her own way). Each of them made some mistakes along the way, but it was understandable given their ages and the pressures they both were facing. It made Kayla and Jay\’s struggles so much more realistic to me. The build up and chemistry between them was amazing and I could not have been happier with how everything came together in the end. Definitely recommend this one! Overall Performance Story I basically needed a sports romance that was light, but had a little oomph. The Rivalry fit it. I like that Kayla was literally born to be in OSU. I love that a chance meeting with star Michigan player Jay comes from a wedding with mutual friends. This leads to a romance between them and a rivalry that tests their relationship. There was a bit to unpack with allegiance of schools and friends. I think Nikki Sloane wrote this pretty well. If you know her writing, you also know that the sex scenes were pretty hot as well. I really enjoyed that Jay was willing to be the man Kayla wasnt used to. To be someone together in a relationship instead of someone appearing in one. Overall I just really enjoyed the story. I havent listened to a lot of Carson Beck or Stephanie Rose, but they did a very good job with narration.

Audiobook The Rivalry by Nikki Sloane

Im not even sure where to begin with this review because holy wow that was perfect but I MUST say that Nikki Sloane never disappoints with her books! ~ Two teams, one huge rivalry. When Kayla and Jay meet at a mutual friends wedding they have no idea whats in store for them but theyre about to find out when they realise theyre from two opposite places with a massive rivalry, will they be able to overcome this or will things forever be doomed between the two? ~ Collage Sports Romance are my absolute favourite kind of read. I always have high expectations for them and hope to god that they meet them but with Nikki Sloane, theres never a worry. So when I heard she was doing a sports romance, a collage one at that I was super excited and intrigued to see where she would take this story and to say I thoroughly enjoyed it would be an understatement. This book was incredible. The storyline was spot on and showcased Nikkis incredible talent. The teams rivalries were insane and intense and you could feel it all. The cheerleading, the football everything was described so perfectly you actually felt like you were there witnessing it all. Then all the emotions get thrown at you throughout the whole book. One minute youre happy, the next youre sad and then you find yourself laughing and that, thats one of the things that show how amazing a book is. A book that can pull more than one emotion from you is a sure hit in my book. ~ Ive been a huge fan of Nikkis books for a while now and Im always eager to see what she comes up with next, The Rivalry was definitely, for me, one of my favourite reads of 2017. The characters will be stuck with me, Ill be thinking about Jay and Kaylas story for a while, I can just feel it. Kudos to Nikki for another incredible book, cant wait to read more from her in the future. I only wish I could give this one a lot more than a 5 start relating because damn, it deserves it.

Audio The Rivalry narrated by Carson Beck Stephanie Rose

I love young adult sports romance and my attention was immediately drawn to this book because of the author and the premise …this is a tale of two young college students Kayla and Jay who appear to be a perfect match albeit they represent rival varsity football teams…. I have to say from the outset that I have little or no prior knowledge of American football or indeed Cheerleading and this made some of the narrative, particularly at the beginning, challenging to comprehend….that being said I am aware of the loyalty displayed by some die hard sports fans and Kayla lives and breathes her familys alma mater football team…..both Jay and Kayla take turns to tell their version of events which provides not only an insight into their true feelings for each other but also an added layer of humour to the story… Kayla is as stubborn as they come and any chance of a relationship between the two main characters seems destined to fail despite the seriously hot chemistry between them….two star crossed sports lovers supported by a team of fascinating secondary characters… this was an original, entertaining and engaging read….. This book was reviewed for Summer\’s Eve Reads…

I really enjoyed this book. The chemistry between the main characters was intense even after finding out they were from rivals universities. The dynamic of building a relationship when the h has been brought up to loathe the rival university due to their football teams was so good. I loved when Kayla walked in to Biffs for the first time. She was a strong ass petite blonde who certainly didnt hold any punches. There were real laugh out loud moments. Particularly at the wedding at the beginning. I loved Jays character, and I totally understood where he was coming from when he was trying to deal with Kayla and her disdain for everything Michigan. This had steamy parts but was in no way anywhere near as steamy as some of the other books I have read by Nikki. The only reason I didnt give this book 5 stars was because as a Brit I had no clue when the story was talking about American football! There was a lot of football talk and explaining the game in action but it honestly meant nothing to me. I guess if you understand all the terms youre fine but as I said, Im totally clueless about it. It did not however ruin my enjoyment.
