Wake Up: Why the ‘liberal’ war on free speech is even more dangerous than Covid-19 audiobook free

Mr. Morgan’s book presents excellent( in my humble opinion) how “off the rails” society has become. He uses the term illiberal liberals. So true. He uses a chronological approach reflecting how incidents have put our world down in the weeds. Granted they are important but our world( most especially the US) takes it to a degree of unreasonable. We have been spinning out of control and becoming intolerant of others’ thoughts and opinions reducing us all to more stringent thoughts, prejudices, and behaviors.
His introduction is most interesting and strongly suggest you don’t skip it!
Take this book and digest it and share it with others. It is well written and yes, unpleasant in parts- after all, showing us in an unflattering light is never easy to handle. We need to return to reasonable thoughts, actions, and just common sense. this is a good first step.

I purchased this book after the author appeared on the Dr. Phil show. I had no idea who or what “wokes” were or what “cancel-culture” meant. I certainly don’t agree with the author on everything he said, but for the most part he’s got a good brain on his shoulders, and can cut through the current P.C. nonsense. Piers can be outspoken and abrasive, but he’s not a “hater”. He respects the individual, even if he doesn’t agree with them (with some notable exceptions). He’s on his own soap box a lot of the time, but he also has a deep and abiding belief that we can agree to disagree, even on major issues, where both sides believe they are right. He believes we all have a right to our own beliefs and opinions, as long as they are not based on prejudice and hatred. He believes in the inherent dignity of each and every human being. If we are to survive, we have to quit the “us” versus “them” mentality and treat each person with respect and dignity. Would that it could be so.

Audiobook Wake Up: Why the ‘liberal’ war on free speech is even more dangerous than Covid-19 by Piers Morgan

Firstly, I’ll start by saying that I’m not a liberal and don’t agree with a huge amount of what liberalism advocates, but I still found Mr. Morgan’s perspective to be quite interesting. I agree with a significant amount of the stuff he had to say, particularly related to the stuff about the extreme toxicity and danger of allowing the prevalent cancel culture to continue and to allow the current militant woke culture to grow without restraint. My biggest disagreements are in his narrow characterizations of conservative figures in the UK and the US when dealing with the COVID pandemic, which conveniently (or maybe he didn’t genuinely know it) omit important facts of things that were taken, things that were done and said, and the equal hypocrisy that also existed on the Left. But I will still give this book 4 stars. Should I ever meet Mr. Morgan, I expect these are all things I’d enjoy discussing with him in a lively debate of sorts. I realize also that this book is targeted mainly as a plea to classical liberals to wake up and not let the newer generation of radical leftists ruin society, which explains the ample Trump-bashing that occurred. That’s fine, everyone has the right to his/her own opinion. Liberals used to stand for free speech, and presumably the older generations of liberals still do, but the newer ones are moving far away from these cherished principles with their radical fascist tendencies. Hopefully this book will help bring the liberals closer to the center again.

I’m not overly familiar with Piers Morgan so I didn’t know his stance on anything. I saw him talking on Dr. Phil and his book sounded interesting. So I like to believe I had no expectations on what I would be reading about. I found this book very straight forward and interesting. I found myself agreeing with some of his options as to how “careful” the world has become about offending everyone and anyone. I also disagree with some of his opinions. But that is basically what this book was about, the right to freely agree or disagree with someone else’s views and not be vilified for it. Kudos!
