Wizard’s Holiday audiobook free

I loved this new twist on a “working holiday.” Nita and Kit get to go to the beach and relax. While there they have to find out the reason they were sent, after all the ‘powers’ don’t waste energy. Dairine stays home plays host to the exchange-wizards, a motley crew who are the key to a successful visit. All kinds of fun and wizardry ensue. I loved getting to know Dairine better. The only bad part about this book is that it ends. I can’t wait till Book 8 hits Audible!

Wizard’s Holiday audiobook series Young Wizards

OK, so the series started over 20 years ago, somehow I managed to miss it. We only have two books available to us here, numbers 5 & 7. Since 5 sounds based around the central character’s mom’s death I decided to start with this one. The story is great, and the reader is great. Youthful wizards which may sound a little like Harry Potter, but it isn’t. And there is a lot of humor. I really love the characters, both the central and new to volume characters. So much that I’ve gone back and bought the first 3 books. I’m hoping 4 & 6 will become available here before I have to do something drastic like buying them also. Even my 14 (almost 15) year old non reader loves these.

Audiobook Wizard’s Holiday by Diane Duane

All of the Young Wizard’s books are awesome, either in Kindle format or Audible audio, But Amazon needs to get busy and get the narration files synced with the Kindle books. I was able to use Immersion Reading only with books 1, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 in the series, and later, book 6 wouldn’t admit there was a synced audible narration available. I was told the audio has to match up at least 95% before that would happen, but I’ve listened to the Audible files while manually flipping pages in the Kindle ebooks and they appear to match better than 99.99% word for word. I would love to re-read & listen to this series using immersion reading to automatically turn the pages. Please do NOT suggest using the Kindle text to speech feature. The output from that is an insult to all the professional voice readers and butchers the pronunciation of at least 5% of the words. I wouldn’t even bother to use it to read weather reports, let along popular fiction with many characters voices needing to be expressed.

Audio Wizard’s Holiday narrated by Christina Moore

You know, I love this whole series. The idea of getting to be a wizard is just cool. In the book, Kit and Nita, and Ponch, of course, get a vacation which turns out not to be a vacation after all. Dairine has signed up for s foreign exchange vacation without clearing it and ends up getting herself grounded by her Senior Wizards, which gives the aforementioned trio the opportunity for an off-planet break.

The break turns out to be NOT what was expected, as both Dairine and her visitors have a serious issue to take care of on Earth, and Kit, Nita and Ponch have a serious issue to take care of on THEIR planet..

What I love about the storyline is the utter humanity of all the characters, an not just the human ones. The reality of their inner turmoil, their fears, frustrations, and the way they deal with the very real problems they face are what keep me coming back.

I don’t tell the story here like some reviewers do. I simply want to say that this series deal with very real adolescent issues. These are real kids. They way they face their fears and losses just pulls you through the story. I think any kid OR adult could relate to them, understand their seeming failures and triumphs, and learn something about themselves in the process. Every time I read one of the books in this series I learn something new about myself. And I never read these books just once.
