Someone Like You (The Baxters #30)

Even though the circumstance at the core of this book is not familiar I definitely found myself swept into the story. As always the reader is transported into the mind and heart of the characters. She is excellent at bringing twists and turns into the story. I definitely recommend this book and author. This book is a stand alone. There are some characters from her other books but it is not necessary to have read her other books to enjoy this book. Looking forward already to the next book.

Is it just me or are Karen Kingsbury book following the same cookie cutter format lately? Did I enjoy the book overall? Yes? Will I but the next book? Not sure.

I loved this book and I can’t wait to see what will be the next story involving the Baxter’s. I hope there is a follow-up book about Dawson and Maddie. I would recommend this book to everyone who loves to read. I couldn’t put this book down. Read it in one day. Thanks Karen Kingsbury for another great book.

I love Karen Kingsbury books and I have nearly all of them. This is one of my favorites, but I didnt think so at first. In the beginning Maddie seemed like an immature and self centered 22 year old. (I still think she might have been).
A stranger informs her that her parents are not her biological parents. She does not believe this for a minute and tells them of the conversation. However they admit it is true. The fact is her mother used in vitro fertilization in order to become pregnant with Maddie.
Maddie becomes extremely angry and leaves home, her fianc and her new dream job to find her biological parents and a sister she didnt know she had. She believes her whole life was a lie and will never forgive her parents.
The stranger who shared the news with her was her sisters boyfriend. This is who she contacts and runs to in order to get more information. He also is a devout Christian the same as Maddie.
The rest of the story is about the information she learns from him about her sister and her biological parents.
In the end she does reunite with her family. She learns what true family means and how to forgive. And that God is always with us no matter what. She also matures a lot.
There are lots of tears but also lots of love and joy. And God reigns through it all.
A wonderful story that can be read as a stand alone book even though it is involves the Baxter family.

Interesting read. First if all, I always love KK’s writing style, including italicized comments from the Holy Spirit that the character can “hear”. Also, she inputs Scripture throughout the storyline.appropriate to the moment.
This novel is full of comments the reader can use in witnessing to whomever the Lord sends across the path. And He does do that. KK’s many novels I have read have enabled me to minister to many.
Back to Someone Like You: the storyline is new to me. Because of that it took me several pages to digest the impact in vitro fertilization may have on the lives of all involved. Emotional adjustment can run the gamut. In the end, God, if allowed, can use it for His purpose. KK has woven this into the storyline masterfully, creating a roller coaster within the reader’s emotions.
I am blessed to read another of her novels enlightening me on the social issues impacting our lives today.
