Rosenfelt has outdone himself on this one. All the Andy Carpenter books are good, but I think this one is even better. It has a different twist to it and really keeps you guessing what revelation is next. If you’ve never read any of the other books, it won’t hinder your enjoyment and understanding of this one. The Andy Carpenter books are a pleasure to read. Yes, there is murder and mayhem wound into the mysteries that take unexpected twists and turns. There is enough humor included to keep the stories from being dark. If you haven’t read the other books, you will certainly want to after you read this one and I recommend you do just that.

Collared audiobook in series Carpenter Series
The last Andy Carpenter book is one of his best. A border collie is left at the Tara Foundation. A scam reveals that this is the dog that was stolen when a baby was kidnapped a few years ago. A boyfriend of the Mother was convict of the crime but the child and dog were never located. In order to help resolve the case, Andy becomes the attorney of record for the convicted party. Before long Andy feels that the man was not guilty and sets out to find answers. He wants to know if the child dead or where he is now. The answers give no satisfaction and become dangerous. Marcus is called to defend Andy. A new trial is ordered for the convicted man. I highly recommend this book and series.

Audiobook Collared by David Rosenfelt
David Rosenfelt can do no wrong! His plots always offer a surprise in the end and a twisting, interesting journey to get there. I love his characters, especially the self-deprecating Andy, who obviously is not the loser he would like for us to think he is. I enjoy the interesting relationships he shares with family and friends, as well as the witty “discussions” he has with them, as well as the sarcasm he shares with others in the storyCC. I am a dog lover, which is what drew me to my first Andy Carpenter book, so I appreciate his including Andy’s 4-legged friends in the stories. I read for pleasure and am never disappointed with Rosenfelt’s books. My only disappointment is that now I have to wait so long for the next Andy Carpenter mystery!
Written in the style of all Andy Carpenter Mysteries, Collared has enough twists and turns to be not totally predictable. This is a great series. Having read all of the books in the series, I look forward to a new one and am sad when I finish because I will have to wait for the next book to be written. I particularly like the sarcasm used by the main character. It is so funny that at times I find I laugh out loud. And the, of course, there is Tara…. a great sidekick and a special dog.

Audio Collared narrated by Grover Gardner
I have read a lot of different authors but I am yet to read one that even comes close to making me laugh out loud like Rosenfelt does. He also instills within the reader a respect for animals that is really great! In this novel , which I read on my Kindle from Amazon, he follows the story of a returned dog that went missing due to a crime scene which eventually told Attorney Carpenter that something was amiss. It is a very good story that you should read. This book can stand alone without your reading the entire series from book one but I highly recommend you read them all and in order. You will be happy you did.

As usual spellbound by the characters as they are woven through the story. Andy Carpenter is an individual who cares but isn’t sappy or wimpy about it. There are reasons: integrity and doing what’ s right. Danger be darned. Even retired, I find I must fly through his books because I must know what is going to happen and how is it going to happen. Astute, resolute, nonviolent and quiet reasoning (Laurie) get him through to what is right. I thoroughly enjoy the series and am looking forward to the next one.
Love the series. The characters feel like old friends now. The main character’s dry self-deprecating sense of humor cracks me up plus he loves dogs just like I do. I read a true life story of the author’s trip across country with his dogs and was happy to hear him say that while people may be murdered in these books, the dogs will always be fine. Now I don’t have to worry about the main dog character anymore. If it sounds like I have the author and the main character in the book mixed up, it is because what I found out reading “Dog Tripping” the true story was that the author and main character as basically the same person and both are delightful.
