Mr. Mysterious is the latest addition to JA Huss set of stand alones The Misters. I thought I\’d have to abandon my candy theme with Mr. Mysterious, but I figured it out – Paxton Vance is licorice twizzlers – yummy and twisty and part of a pack. Not to mention red Mysterious\’ color. I LOVE Twizzlers. To recap, each of The Misters were brought together when they were implicated in a notorious criminal investigation that left their college plans in tatters and place them under perpetual. cloud of suspicion. Mr. Mysterious\’ role in that fateful night is finally disclosed, and suddenly things become a lot more complicated. Paxton is – well, we\’re not quite sure – part mercenary, part detective, all fixer. The illegitimate child of a Hollywood scion and Kentucky blueblood, Pax really wants to be an enigma and does his level best to keep everyone at arm\’s length. But he\’s met his match in Cinderella Shrike, Spencer and Ronnie\’s wayward baby girl. Cindy\’s a self taught private eye who\’s harbored a ten year crush on Mysterious which is fueling her stalker tendencies when their story opens. She will not be denied, and has a tendency to narrate her life out loud. She is every bit her mother\’s daughter with more than a dash of her brilliant, bad ass daddy thrown in for good measure – don\’t let the ridiculous name fool you. She\’s a Shrike dammit. Their \”office romance\” starts off pretty hilarious, and is told, partially in flashback, by a drunken Pax, when he realizes, to his horror, he\’s been sleeping with his best (only?) friend\’s baby sister. Despite his protests, the Southern gentleman in Paxton falls hard for the fairy tale princess- especially when she sheds her borrowed, black- haired, surf punk persona. She forces light and laughter into his melancholy existence, along with an ongoing film noirish, detective-client role play that\’s more than a bit of kinky fun. The Pax exposed by Baby Bomb is the nothing like the James 2.0 so many Huss fans were expecting. He\’s a southern Prince Charming who loves his mother and deserves the princess – even if he doesn\’t think so. Make no mistake. This is no rom com. Remember when I promised that The Misters would set our house on fire? Forget about the fire extinguishers and call 911 – it\’s gonna be a five alarm blaze!!!!!! The real mystery – the who and why of the frame job of our five Misters – explodes into the present, and we get to spend time with all the Misters. The threats escalate, secrets are revealed and the danger grows exponentially. It\’s a classic Huss E-ticket ride. Would you expect any less with the Shrike version of a disney princess involved? My love for this series grows with every installment. I will be so sorry to see it end, but I\’m so excited for The Misters to take back their lives – once and for all. How many days until December 7th and Mister Match? 5 bippity boppity stars

We finally get Mr. Mysterious, Paxton\’s, story. And what a story it is! I do recommend that you read these in order. We do get some questions answered, but we are left with more. I can\’t wait until those answers. What I love most about J.A.\’s books, you have no idea where she\’s going to go with the story. You\’ll be confused some, but it\’s a great type of confusion. I love it. My biggest question now is, where is Pax\’s mom? Is she alive? Is she in hiding? How in the heck does she play a part in all of this? I don\’t think she set them up, but I think she knows who did. And I don\’t just mean the Silver Society. She knows which person did it. That\’s just my theory, and I\’m probably wrong. I do wonder about Rory too. Is she in hiding, or is she dead? I loved Pax and Cinderella. Cinderella telling her little stories is awesome. She was a little nuts though, she has some stalker tendencies lol. This is such a great read and a great series. I\’m still not liking Tori all that much though.

Audiobook Mr. Mysterious (Mister #4) by JA Huss
I enjoyed reading this book so much. At first, I was annoyed at Cindy, and I found her obsession towards Paxton unreasonable. However, as the story progressed, I learned to accept her reasons because well… things got really interesting especially when Liam Henry appeared. I realized that the entire timeline for Mr. Mysterious took place before and after Weston\’s (Mr. Corporate) story. Reading this book cleared my confusion about Paxton and Five\’s motives in the previous book. However, it brought more twists in preparation for the next one. Oliver is next, and I can\’t wait to read it. While it is tagged as a standalone, this is best enjoyed if you\’re familiar with the stories of Mr. Romantic and Mr. Corporate (I\’d like to think that Mr. Perfect is a semi-standalone because while there are less clues about the rape charge against all the Misters, it could still stand on its own.). At this point, I think I\’m in this series for the mystery rather than the romance. But I have no complaints.

Audio Mr. Mysterious (Mister #4) narrated by Elena Wolfe Rob Shapiro Sebastian York
Mr. Mysterious is the fourth book in the Mister Series. Each can be read as a standalone but I wouldn\’t recommend that because you need the full story and will not get it unless you read about all of these men. Through the whole series Paxton Vance (Mr. Mysterious) is painted as this dark and deadly man. When you read his story in this book, he is dark and deadly but so much more too. He loves so strongly and when he falls for Cindy, he falls hard. Cinderella Shrike is THE best female in the Mister Series so far. She is the bomb and has most certainly learned from the best with her mother being the original bomb. She knows what she wants and does not stop until she gets it. She fell in love with Pax many many years ago and did not stop until she had him. They are perfect together and will be a force to be reckoned with in this series. In this fourth book, Julie gives us more clues as to what happened on that night all those years ago and we are slowly getting to who is behind the old and the new torment of the Misters at the moment. Even with all this going on, Julie is still holding back on so much more. If you think you know, you really don\’t. If you are a fan of Julie\’s and have read all of her books then you will love the references to past characters from different series. Everything feels similar in a way but is completely different. One thing remains true though and that is, despite their differences and dislike most of the time for eachother, the Misters most certainly are a team. And this new team will bring you on a journey, just like the original team.

It is no secret that my love for this author and her world knows few bounds. That said, I like some stories more than others and try to reflect that in a review. Mr Mysterious aka Paxton Vance is shock, horror not my favourite mister. I think he needs to recognise what an absolute gem he has in Cindy. He spends too much time holding back and questioning his feelings. The other misters so far have seized the day and made a Mrs. Pax does eventually but only after I became heartbroken along with Miss Shrike. I understand that he has had a difficult time without a father figure However, he loves his mother and so should have applied his capacity for love a little more freely. I may well be in a minority with my criticism of Pax but everyone needs a favourite Mister ergo there must also be a least favourite. I loved Cindy Shrike and she is firmly ensconced in my heart. Maybe that is why I\’m harsh on Pax? All I really know is that if a book and characters can make me feel rl anger and frustration then the author is doing something very right. If I had more than 5 stars to offer and this bittersweet praise, I\’d gladly give more. I hardcore love the Mister series. There is a mystery which deepens as we more toward our conclusion. I lose sleep with my theories. December seems so far away in relation to the final book, Mr Match, but that\’s because I\’m greedy. In reality JA Huss has a phenomenal work rate. I truly don\’t know how she does it, the quality of writing never slips. I never wait endlessly hoping, wishing that another book may surface in the next 12 months. I always end up thoroughly satisfied and beyond happy.
