Atlas (Cultivated #2)

This book is a great story which takes place after the first book in the Cultivated series, called Charlie. In Charlie readers find out about a horrible cult leader. The next books begin to explain what happens to several young people who grew up in the cult. The first child is the main character of this book, Atlas. Atlas has begun to research cults to try to understand his horrible experiences. Along the way, readers are exposed to discussions of why people join a cult, why they follow the orders of the cult leader, what the group dynamics are in a cult, do cult leaders believe their own lies, and more. There is plenty of romance as Atlas falls in love with a young woman who was a school psychologist and comes to help research the cults. When she becomes threatened by the parent of a young boy she helped, Atlas has to protect her. It is an exciting, suspenseful romance. I highly recommend it!

Conner O’Brien might be dead but his legacy of death and horror still lives on. All of his children are still scared in one way or another. Atlas Robertson is obsessed with finding out what makes people join cults. He is freaked out by the darkness in himself. Jolene Fisher goes to work for him to interview ex cult members. Shes also running from a serious threat. This series is heartbreaking and uplifting to see these gifted children grow up and overcome being raised by a monster. One of the reasons I love Ms. Peers writing is it is they are definitely not run of the mill. She always puts in her own unique perspective that make her books stand out. Another winner you wont want to miss. Lumi and Damians book is next and I cannot wait.

This is the second book in the Cultivated series and wow does it pack a punch. I loved Atlas from the beginning and after all he had gone through it was no surprise that he had some relationship issues. Atlas had some pretty big traumas to deal with and Joanne had some big troubles of her own. Together they both find the strength, support and love they deserve but was out of their reach. This book was a great follow up to book one and the perfect introduction to the adult versions of the young survivors. Lots of great dialogue and character development. Lots of crazy emotions and steaminess. Throw in a little drama and you have this book. I’m excited to see what’s in store for the other siblings.

Jolene is a psychologist who works in a California school district but has been forced by a psychotic man to leave the state to escape. She applies to a small research company in Chicago that is owned by Atlas, who is also VP of research for Solver Industries. Atlas is the son of Conner O’Brien, leader of a cult that caused the death of 28 followers. He hires Jolene to help two other employees research to get an in-depth understanding of cults. This is is an exciting book with a couple of subplots that keep the reader on the edge of her seat wondering if there is a HEA possible with Atlas continually outsmarting himself all to find out Jolene was the one who made a wrong assumption! Another Elin Peer great read.

There is something very special and unique about any story Elin Peer writes. The story moves fluidly and swiftly and keeps your attention. You never want to put it down and are sad when it is over even though you loved it. Atlas lives up to her legacy! He is a troubled and private man who needs something fulfilling in his life. This story will tug at your heartstrings in so many directions! You will not be disappointed!
