I have read every book Mr Reynard has written. I loved Gabriels Inferno/Rapture and honestly felt the series was complete. Either motivated by fans, or money, the author wrote Gabriels Redemption. In my opinion, this book was unnecessary, as I felt it was rushed, too many things going in different directions, too many unanswered questions . The biggest complaint I had is how the author decided to “bridge” the Gabriel series with the Florentine series. I wouldn’t have had a problem with this if both series were contemporary romances and not combining contemporary with paranormal. To me, that stretched the readers belief and imagination too far, and I did not like it one bit, still don’t. But, hey, that’s me. The one area I did like was Gabriel and Julia having a child. Again, the ending of this book indicated the trilogy was now complete. Wrong !!! Again, I am not sure if the author again was motivated by fans, money, or now the addition of a movie through Passion flix. It matters not to me, this book was boring and made no sense.

I will explain. As I said I have read the Florentine series (loved this more than the Gabriel series). If the readers have read all of Mr Reynards books, surely they have picked up that this book to is a “bridge” to the first Florentine series based off of timeline.

What is off for me is the subject matter of Gabriel’s career opportunity. This is never , ever mentioned in the Florentine series when Gabriel and Julia are mentioned. So now the question is what is going on?

There were again too many loose ends and the book just kinda stopped like brakes slamming.
It is clear to me there are more books coming, but I am finished with this series . I was after Gabriel’s rapture, and should’ve kept it that way.

Again , sorry readers, don’t hate me.

I loved these characters from the first couple of lines of the first book, and while I enjoyed this last book, and wish for more. I feel as if I have been left in limbo maybe I’ve drank from the “River of Lethe”. On several parts, it makes you think there is something wrong with Julianne, when at the end is only exaggerated. I loved to see the couple adjust to being a parent and balance life decisions in their new roles. But I felt unfulfilled at the end. I noticed it was the end only because I swiped to the next page and read “Acknowledgement” so I had to go back and saw at the very bottom there it is “Fin”. I relate this book to book two it left us yearning for more, and we all know the Julianne and Gabriel fans wanted to know more, therefor I am truly hoping for a fifth book.

Audiobook Gabriel’s Promise by Sylvain Reynard

Beautiful couple and lovely writing, but to say I was shocked when the book abruptly ended, is an understatement. There are so many unanswered questions. If theres not going to be another book, then I dont understand all the drama. I love how much Gabriel loves his baby and how he adores Julianne, but Im left feeling unsatisfied after waiting so long. Hopefully, there will eventually be answers to my questions.

Audio Gabriel’s Promise narrated by Robertson Dean

If youve followed me for any length of time on social media, you already know that Sylvain Reynard is one of my favorite authors. Ive been a devoted reader of SRs since 2010 and my love for Prof. Gabriel O. Emerson knows no bounds. When it comes to book boyfriends, no one comes close to The Professor. So when it was announced that Gabriels Promise would be published, my excitement went into overdrive.

The fourth book in this series picks up right where Gabriels Redemption left off. As a reminder, Redemption is a story in which The Professor seemingly has it all. But even as Gabriel and Julia navigate through their newlywed bliss, Gabriel remains convinced that his happiness is destined to be short-lived, that it could be ripped away at any moment. When his infant daughter, Clare, is born and placed in his arms for the first time at the conclusion of book three, we get a glimpse of how blessed Gabriels life will become by fatherhood.

Gabriels Promise takes this glimpse and fully immerses us in those first precious days and weeks of new parenthood. Gabriels love for Clare is limitless and its a joy to read. The Professor dotes on his Principessa as only he can, and I took it all in with a big smile. Seeing Gabriel achieve true happiness has been a long time in the making. He is an amazing dad. Naturally, there are some complications that arise for the Emersons during this time. Whats interesting to read is how Gabriel chooses to deal with his obstacles in Promise compared to the earlier books.

My only word of caution would be for those who havent yet read The Florentine Series or The Man In The Black Suit. There are elements from those books that have found their way into Gabriels Promise and might cause some mild confusion. Thats not to say that you need to read those books before diving into this one. Just be aware that some dots wont be fully connected with this novel, and that you may want to move on to those other stories afterward.

Gabriels Promise is my first read of 2020, and as usual, SR sets the storytelling bar high for my subsequent reads this year. Im giving this novel five stars for its heart, humor, sexiness, and the mere existence of the dazzling Prof. Gabriel O. Emerson.

(If you thought Gabriel was hot before, just wait until you spot him strolling through the Harvard campus with Clare in a fancy Swedish baby carrier.)

I read this as avidly as I did the other three, was really getting into it, and feeling uptight not knowing if julianne was going to be seriously Ill or whether shed get better, and ……………… nothing, dont know either way, it didnt address it. Then when they had an intruder and the bead was found, it was like nooooo what was this all about, surely well find out soon, and ………………….. once again nothing…………… then julianne falls out with cecilia, and Im wondering oh dear what negative effect will this have on her academic career, and ……………………. again nothing….. I was so disappointed with the ending, nothing is resolved, they go home from their holiday, and julianne falls asleep with the lights off, when shed been too terrified to be at the house, AND she puts the baby in the nursery after worrying about leaving her out of sight, suddenly theyre going to Edinburgh and nothing is resolved, and Im left thinking WHAT???????????? If there isnt going to be a continuation then all I can say is what a waste of my time, after the first three books, which were brilliant Im left feeling somewhat let down by this one. While saying this, its as readable as the others, until everything just fizzled out…really disappointed.!!!!
