Female narrator comprised 70% of the book and she was not very expressive or good IMO. Her Scottish accent was not good. The Ronan character was soooo adorable and the book would have been much better if he had narrated more.

This one was entertaining and sweet, not as funny as some of other books I have read of Helena\’s but still a very enjoyable story. Kind of an enemy to lovers story. Narration is great, I love every book narrated by Teddy Hamilton.

Audiobook Kiss My Cupcake by Helena Hunting
This authors books are all over the place for me. Her hockey romances are more explicit, mouthier and can be funnier (hello, A Favor for a Favor or Pucked Off) but also feature a lot of casual sex, drinking, and contrived social media angst with hockey pros that can really drag the book down (hello, Pucked and A Lie for a Lie). So, with this book dropping all the twenty something foolishness and giving us two thirty something, responsible business owners, I was hoping the author dropped the bad and kept the good ingredients and cooked up a fun enemies to lovers rom-com. Unfortunately, this book ended up being a rather generic, vanilla story. Not bad, but just okay. My biggest gripe was the cuteness factor: Blaire is cuteness overdone: a blond Betty with a love of cupcakes, Harry Potter, and 60s era poodle skirts. She speaks in baby talk, like when she says I worked my tooshie off to get here or realizes shes stepped in doggy-doo. The book opens revealing her struggle is choosing to decline her uber rich family wealth to pursue her small business dream. Ronan is a sexy hipster lumberjack, with plaid shirts and his own syrupy backstory of dead parents and a Scottish grandpa looking to him to save the family pub. Thankfully, Ronan throws (occasional) F bombs instead of baby bombs. But, he also contributes to the cuteness, complicit in karaoke duets and Harry Potter fandom. Other issues: Its not a good sign when the most interesting folks are the side characters, from grandpa to Blaires bonkers family. The conflicts are mild and rather juvenile. The humor quirked my lips, but never got me to laugh. I think part of the vanilla was the female narrator, who could have used more snark (ala Erin Mallon or Lorelei King) to sell the banter. Hamiltons narration brought the heat, but he only narrated every fifth chapter or so. Theres only one detailed nooky scene at 6.5hrs (which I did enjoy, since both Blaire and Ronan gave mouthy, sexy good times); the rest are vaguely referenced or stop at kisses, making this story a too sweet, too slow burn. For livelier rom-com, I recommend: Take a Hint by Hibbert, for a mouthy, yet sweet, and effortlessly woke, contemporary British rom-com Man Hands by author duo Eby/Bowen for salt, tequila, lime hilarity if you can handle tons of F bombs Loud Mouth by Avery Flynn, for a piss-N-vinegar hockey rom-com done right Good Time by Jana Astin, for an exuberant, funny, but extremely naughty rom-com

Audio Kiss My Cupcake narrated by Holly Warren Teddy Hamilton
I enjoyed this book, it dragged a bit in the middle and end, but overall I think this is worth a listen, maybe not a credit. I also expected more of Teddy Hamilton\’s narration and not as steamy as some of Teddy\’s other work. But I can appreciate the characters for how their written.

So much of this I did not like. Since graduating from middle school, I havent found ridiculous sexual innuendo funny. Subtlety is so much sexier. Also, the man who voiced Ronan was not my favorite. I live in the Pacific Northwest and have never heard an accent like that, it was almost like Johnny Depps Willy Wonka…super annoying. The leads lacked chemistry, I didnt even care if they got together.
