You have no heart.
This is the only one of the Dragons of Pern to be in the first person, so we see Nerilka’s joys and sorrows first hand instead of filtered through a third person narrative .I
We see many of the matters covered in Moreta from a different perspective . We see the selfishness of Lord Tolocamp and its affect on his surviving offspring, along with his disgusting reaction to the few good things to come out of the pandemic.
I have read this book before. But reading it when our own world is in the grip of a pandemic — happily not as severe as the one on Peen —

Nerilka\’s Story audiobook in series Original Dragonriders of Pern (abridged)
In Moreta the Lord of Ruatha had his heart seriously broke. Nerilka’s Story is about the woman who picked up the pieces and held him together so he could continue doing his duty to his hold. Nerilka was a younger daughter of a Lord Holder and, while she was given all the proper training by her mother, she had no aspirations. When she could no longer tolerate her father’s new wife, she left. Fortune put her at Ruatha in the wake of the plague that killed her mother and younger sisters.

Her books are so good you can read them over and over again and never be bored . The story is basically your coming of age during a worldwide crisis and how you can be fearful and scared or brave and strong. I wish the author was still around writing her books all have great such a great story .

Once again we are touched to the heart by the folks of Pern. It is so compelling that you find yourself on Pern and living it in your mind. The story fits our present day lives with the virus we are dealing with now.

I have read all of the books of Pern that Anne Macaffrey wrote and many of those written by Todd Macaffrey. I re-read them periodically and listen to the Audible editions that I have. The world that she offered to her readers is and will remain a favorite for many decades to come!
