Quit Like a Woman is an interesting title of a book based on addiction and recovery. It is written by Holly Whitaker. The author builds up a discussion in this book about the radical choice of not consuming alcohol in a culture promoting that. Holly is the CEO and the founder of Tempest. She has plenty of experience in the healthcare and technology industry. She created an excellent recovery program in 2014 that offers education and support services through a virtual platform.
The narration of Quit Like a Woman is done by Holly Whitaker herself. It was a decent performance and the audience kind of like it.
Quit Like a Woman
We live in a world of today that is all obsessed with drinking. We are the ones who drink at work events, baby showers, book clubs, brunches, funerals, and even graduations. Yet, there is no one out there to question the ubiquity of alcohol. The only thing that is question here is that why someone does not drink? It is considered as a qualifier to feel belonged and if you don’t adhere to such normal practices then you are treated as an anomaly. All of us in one way or the other are obsessed with our health and the wellness routine in society. But, we still support alcohol as if it is some sort of a magic elixir. But, it is not that.
When Holly decided to take help after a few benders, she took on a journey that could take her to her very own sobriety. She revealed the negative impact or the role of alcohol not only in our society but also in the lives of women particularly.
Quit Like a Woman is a fast-paced, funny, and candid account that comes from self-actualization. The story she shares here is a messy one of the human type where she convinces that abstemiousness is a kind of a feminist issue.
