I was excited for this book. Its been on my TBR on Goodreads for months.
The gushing from famous authors had me salivating.
The readers in the PLN club went on and on about how brilliantly this was written.
Twists and turns galore.
The ending was going to leave me breathless.
Instead Im feeling as if I didnt read the same book.
It was boring and predictable, and cozy. This is a cozy mystery with sassy language. Which is not what I paid for. I was expecting a mind bender.
I was ready for excitement and what I got instead feels more akin to watching a made for TV movie, but the writers from 90210 or Melrose Place made the movie.
The first twenty pages were intriguing and edited well, after that it all goes downhill.
Ms. Fisher has improved as a writer as far as traditional publishings standards are concerned, in that she has lost her uniqueness and blended with the typical and cheesy formula writers. Although hints of her were there. Nordstrom shopping and the decor of the house matches her own….yawn. Its also funny the language she normally uses in her indie books made it past the editor but theres no sex in this book at all.
Its PG and made for TV and absolutely not worth the money spent.
I do not recommend this book. Certainly not for $9.99, this cost three times what her other novels are worth and delivered half as much, if not less.
Skip this lame attempt at psychological thriller.

I didnt like the main character, Thursday, from the very beginning of this book & I still didnt like her when I got to the last page. Its a weird story, no doubt about it. The premise sounded really good. A woman legally married to a man who has two other wives. She becomes curious & breaks the rules by looking up his newest wife. From the beginning, Thursday is presented as being madly in love with Seth although, like her name, she only sees him on Thursday. I thought that was silly. He sees Hannah on Monday & Regina on Tuesday. We dont really know much about any of the characters, they all seem flat & dimensionless. I think the story couldve been a lot better if it had a tighter storyline. I got so mired down in boring details about of the way through the book I fell asleep. I didnt know if Thursday was crazy or being played by Seth. There were inconsistencies, a few red herrings, a lack of character development & no one came across as being anything more than a caricature. It was an unusual storyline & it couldve been a really good thriller but it needs a lot of work & some characters youd really want to know.

The Wives audiobook by Tarryn Fisher
Its all too perfect, I think. When things are that perfect, something is wrong. – The Wives.
SYNOPSIS: Thursdays husband, Seth, has two other wives. Shes never met them, and she doesnt know anything about them. She agreed to this unusual arrangement because shes so crazy about him. But one day, she finds something. Something that tells a very different- and horrifying- story about the man she married. What follows is one of the most twisted, shocking thrillers youll ever read.- The Wives.
REVIEW: I am SO glad this book came out, and that I was able to finish reading it right before the end of the year. Because in all honestly, this was the craziest thriller, with possibly the most twists, that I have read all year. Oh my god, my head is still swimming and trying to catch up. I have loved all the books I have read by Tarryn Fisher and this one is no exception. I honestly think she is becoming a Queen of the dark thriller genre. The plot in this book is so carefully and meticulously thought-out in every way. It is also quite complicated as well, and at this point (end of the book) I feel like all the questions have been answered to a satisfactory point. There is not a lot I can say about the plot, (I dont want to give anything away) besides things are not what they seem, and even when you think you have a good idea of what is going on, you are probably still wrong. This is thanks to the many twists in the book and involvement of all the characters and their different dynamics.
Speaking of characters, they are all amazing. All complicated, well thought-out, and equal combinations of dark and twisty. I appreciate how Tarryn always has diverse personalities within her characters and no one is really squeaky clean. Every character is just so complex, and their relationships with each other very interesting and unique. Further, I enjoyed reading from Thursdays perspective in this story, and throughout the book shared many of the same feelings and bouts of confusion that she was experiencing which added to the mystery of it all.
Overall, this book was a total mind-f*ck. I cannot wait to go back to the beginning and read it again with all the knowledge that I have now, and catch things that I didnt notice in the first read through. Im so so so happy that this is OFFICIALLY my final read of 2019! I couldnt have ended it on a better note. With that, I am looking forward to 2020 and the books that it will bring (Hopefully more of Tarryns )
Happy New Year!

The Wives audio narrated by Lauren Fortgang
Thursday is the second of Seths three wives and it is told from her point of view.
They have an almost idyllic life …on the days he stays at her house. Thursday follows the urge to know more about the others wives. She falls down a rabbit hole that left me guessing what was happening up until the very last words of the book.
I dont want to give any spoilers. Its dark and twisty. It definitely felt like a Tarryn Fisher book. No word is wasted. It is all important. This is absolutely a psychological thriller. I couldnt put it down. Im anxious to do a reread. My mind is still reeling a bit.
No matter how good you think it is while reading it…. it gets better.

The Wives by Tarryn Fisher is an enthralling look at Thursdays quest for answers when she finds something that makes her question her unconventional polyamorous marriage. (Theres a phrase I never thought Id write.) Tarryn Fisher is known for writing amazingly relatable imperfect characters and Thursday is no exception. The twists and turns will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last sentence. This book is brilliant.
Tarryn Fishers writing isnt for everyone. If youve ever wondered if youre actually the villain in the story, then shes definitely for you. If you cant deal with questioning everything youve ever held true and unreliable narrators? Not so much.
