Wasted Time

As a woman who grew up in Regent Park, I know many people whose life took the turn that Edward’s did. I also knew many film’s whose lives did not. One of the issues I challenged regularly when speaking to groups about Regent Park. Might be time for a book about the good stuff that came outta Regent Park that helped make Toronto a better city.

The author takes us on a voyage through heartbreaking and frightening incidents he experienced as early as his childhood. It illustrates how despite the positive qualities a person might possess, circumstances beyond his control can take him in a direction he might never intended to go. Difficult to put down. Highly recommended reading. I could easily see how this portrayal of the author’s life might be attractive to a Hollywood film maker.

I would recommend this book to readers in general because it is a candid account of an interesting life lived hard and with integrity. But it is not for the squeamish. I would particularly recommend it to anyone entering or contemplating entering the legal profession, whether criminal law or otherwise, because I can think of no better or more engaging way of overcoming any snowflakey-eyed misconceptions of our legal system. It’s terse, machine gun-like flow has enough material in it for a dozen Reservoir Dogs.

The entire premise of this book is laughable…pure fiction. Anyone who has had exposure to the inside of an institution knows that inmates do not dictate anything to guards nor do inmates change procedures to suit them. An attractive female guard made herself available and was turned down? Laughable. If people want the truth of life inside, a jail guard is your best source.
