Stephen King is truly the most skilled fiction writer of the era; he creates stories out of nowhere and puts them into your brain in segments. The author does not go wild in thoughts at once rather he puts things slowly in the mind of the listener so that he starts believing the existence of these parallel worlds at first.
In this fourth part narrated by Frank Muller the writer does the same trick i.e first he tells us about the end of one war and then traps the characters in another one slowly.

Roland along with Susannah and Eddie fought against the accursed enemy and survived as victorious heroes. War is over now and they can go home but the problem is that they have gone lost in another dimension in which their land is different in appearance. Topeka is in a ruined state here because of a deadly virus that has engulfed every living soul on the land. Having nowhere to go the group decides to move towards the glass palace to find a solution to this new arising problem. Roland here narrates something personal here in front of his friends.
Stephen talks about love very rarely, in The Stand and The Running Man there were associations but not love. Here through Roland, the author expresses the feelings of true love that Roland had once for a girl in his early youth. During the journey towards the glass palace, Roland delivers every minute detail about his affair and keep the audience engaged. The fourth part takes the team towards another mission that looks bigger than the first one.
