I appreciated the diverse stories centered around a typewriter motif. They steered clear of cruelty or violence, yet weren’t dull or tedious. The narratives were rich in details, portraying genuine people in intriguing circumstances. A delightful read.

The narrative was lackluster until they introduced the Prophet Elias as the master of demons. Prior to that, I would’ve given it 3 stars. However, the performance was commendable.

Audiobook A Crazy Inheritance by Cris Dukehart
This was a delightful listen, reminiscent of old radio shows with its full cast and sound effects. The four chapters, each roughly an hour long, felt like distinct episodes, complete with end theme songs. My boys, aged 10 and 14, thoroughly enjoyed it and are eager for more. The story, a ghostly monster adventure, seems best suited for older elementary to middle school students. While there’s minimal language, terms like “crap” and “dang it” do pop up. The tone is more akin to the playful atmosphere of Scooby Doo or Hotel Transylvania than the spookier Goosebumps. Highly recommended, especially as it’s a free pick for June members.
