Alien Prince Charming (Trilyn Alien Fairy Tales #1)

The storyline is actually pretty good. The writing however needs a very good editor with lots of red pens! Too much time spent with each \”dreaming\” about the other. Other parts also written in but didn\’t help to advance the story or fill in character development. Simply a waste of time while trying to find a \”good story\” to read. I bought and read the 2nd book in hope that the writer had learned from previous experience. Nope.

This must be a badly translated book, because the expressions and idioms the author uses are either awkward, redundant, or completely wrong. Only a few pages into the book makes this evident, and that really detracts from the story. It\’s like the author was in love with English idioms but didn\’t have the skill to use them. It would be better to just avoid them all together. Very frustrating reading. To the author: you need a native English editor.

**Mild Spoiler Review** Bought this book last night and just finished it. It was so hard to put down! I was glad to see that the Trylinian princes were painted more as exotic foreigners than biological aliens to be feared. I really liked our heroine, Amy. She was courageous and fast on her feet, with a determination that earned her my respect. The hero, Prince Gardax, was…ok. He came across as a little bland to me. I fully understand and sympathized with his desperation to find mates for himself and his brothers due to the near-sterilization that their home planet was experiencing, but anyone with eyes in their heads could see that the little \”compatibility scanner\” device could be manipulated by someone with less than stellar motives given half the chance. I hated how hopeless and weak he seemed to become when it looked like his mate was someone other than Amy. Amy was clearly in some sort of life-or-death trouble, but he stopped looking for her and just wallowed in self-pity, ignoring huge red flags about his new so-called \”mate\” and her awful character. I mean, the woman might as well have been holding up a sign that said \”I\’M THE VILLAIN!! MWU-HA-HA!!\” The antagonist turned out to be a pretty shallow character, which was disappointing. She had so much potential to be fleshed out, and she really had me wondering for several chapters what her real motivation and background were, but the author chose to play it safe and keep her rather one-dimensional. All in all, I still very much enjoyed this book, and am heading to buy the second book in this series. Definitely would recommend!

Characters are pretty flat World building was mostly none existent. Evil Darla shows anger at everyone, but mostly Amy before she finds out the eldest prince sees her as a possible match. All the women of wealth are whores well. The eldest prince/king falls in love with Amy after 5-10 minutes of nothingness talk and one text conversation. Darla kidnaps Amy\’s sister and tortures her in the prince/Kings own ship. Yet, he knows everything that happens on his ship. No one hears Corrine screaming from torture on that ship which happens in Darlas office on the ship. Amy blindly does everything Darla instructs her to do and not question one single thing. There is so much wrong in this book full of filler. The editing is nonexistant. Too much wrong and a waste of time. The only good thing I can say about this book is that it was free. I will not continue the series and I will not read this authors work again.

I really liked the premise as I am a sucker for fairy tale retellings. I was really happy until I got about a quarter of the way through. It wasn\’t spectacular before, but it got worse. Amy, who had seemed like she could take care of herself & her sister, became an idiot. She fell for everything Darla told her after saying over & over how untrustworthy she was. That was another annoying thing- things just got repeated over & over. Like how her life wasn\’t easy, Garnax needing to repopulate his planet & the pressure he was under. And for all her worry over Corrine, she basically forgot her for a few chapters. And the sex scenes! They were the most poorly described scenes I have read in while. There was so much that bothered me about this book, but I wanted to finish it because I have been getting this author\’s newsletter for awhile & wanted to read her work. Now, I\’m not so sure. I read the preview in the next book & it looks to be more of the same repeating things & having whole paragraphs where nothing of value was said. Also if the guy describes someone\’s hair as being a carrot colored braid, we don\’t need the girl to them say her carrot colored braid a few pages later.
