Whenever an author plans for a trilogy he should be very careful in the first part because if the first part does not impact the minds strongly then the whole series would get rejected. The audience will not even buy the next two parts if the first part has failed badly.
Michael Wallace had this challenge here which he has accepted very seriously. Not only the author gives a strong background to everything which he has presented but he also lays a strong base for everything which we will be seeing in the future.

Characters also have a detailed introduction but it is not done all at once rather the characters are introduced at the point when their role gets introduced in the story. Slowly the scene gets filled up with the future legends and enemies of the planet. The science fiction has intergalactic war stuff that Emily Beresford narrates in high energy. Blackbeard Superbox and Burning Sky never got so much charged up in terms of story.
Here the author has invested a lot of time in the development of the war scenes. Wars and fights are taking place in different parts of the world and it looks like both sides will unite with their category of people in the time to come.
After which the big deciding finish will approach the tale and would end it. The book has everything i.e from the people fighting for their code to the people who can cheat anyone for the sake of their benefit. An amalgam of two categories is superb to listen to in the voice of Emily Beresford who garnishes these novels better than anyone.
