I wrote this review the evening this book was released but Audible chose to hold it for three days. I don’t get it! I know Lee Child doesn’t need me to run to his defense BUT I’m about 3/4 into this book and saw someone had already really down rated this book because Scott Brick is the narrator! Too bad that Dick Hill retired but people complained about him as well. Scott Brick does a fabulous job narrating and his accents are equally as good. Fifteen minutes into this book and Reacher already lays a 20 something year old guy out on the sidewalk. The kid was going to rob a seventy something year old man of thousands of dollars. The man is bruised and hurting and yet he still tells Reacher not to call the police. They might want to know why he is carrying thousands in cash, in an envelope in his pocket. This book starts out as every old Reacher book does. Lee Child came up with a formula with his first Jack Reacher book, The Killing Floor. It seems as long as he sticks with that formula his books come out PERFECT. This book is just that! Whether you are a fan of Scott Brick’s or not, I don’t think it’s fair to give this book a low ratings based solely on the narrator. This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION. I am a big fan of Jack Reacher. I have over the years primarily read this series on audiobooks. Dick Hill has narrated all the series until the last book when he retired. To me, Dick Hill was Jack Reacher. I am a fan of Scott Brick, the new narrator of the series, but I am having problems adjusting to Brick as Reacher. Oh well, I will adapt. In this book Reacher takes on two gangs to help an elderly couple who have borrowed money from the gangs. The book is well written and the plot twists and turns. The story is action packed with lots of violence. The book is easy to read and almost impossible to put down. Lee Child’s is a master storyteller. I can hardly wait for the next Reacher book. The book is eleven hours and twenty-one minutes. Scott Brick does a good job narrating the book. Brick is a well-known award-winning narrator. 42 people found this helpful

Review #3

Audiobook Blue Moon (Jack Reacher #24) by Lee Child

I understand the dilemma with Scott reading but if he was there from the beginning you\’d never notice. Scott has read all my Clancy\’s and I like his style. Hill always sounded like Inspector Lugar on Barney Miller but I got used to it. The story was awesome only because we all wish that someone would deal with these types of Mafia and they deserve to die ugly because they don\’t care about anyone else but their own agenda. My only complaint was Reacher was never that chatty in previous books, almost as if Child had a ghost writer that didn\’t get Reachers style. 15 people found this helpful

Review #4

Audio Blue Moon (Jack Reacher #24) narrated by Scott Brick

If you are a Reacher fan as I am, you will be disappointed. I don’t know who wrote this book, but with the common practice of having other people write a story, I’m assuming that’s what happened. Jack Reacher is totally out of character and violent. Even the end (spoiler alert) where he walks away feeling good about the brick of money he stole from some mobster is totally out of character. Money has never been a motivating factor for Reacher. That’s a couple of examples. If you do buy this book based on the past reputation of Lee Childs you will be very disappointed. I gave it one star so people will see this before they start. Save your money or credits. 13 people found this helpful

I think I have said that on at least the last few books. This just drones on and on. I still have 3 hours left and will only keep listening to see how the old couple makes out. no one will ever come close to Dick Hill reading Reacher. I listen to other books Scott Brick reads and he is fine with those. But some reason he reads Reacher with a strange cadence. It’s annoying and detracts from the story line which doesn’t have any redeeming qualities. The story might come off a little better if Dick was reading but the story is boring, repetitive and just moronic almost sadly comedic with the portrayal of the Albanians and Ukrainians. Reacher need to retire, the only way that will happen is if Lee kills him off. I miss the old Reacher 11 people found this helpful
