All of us or at least most of us know completely what a catalyst is and what its function is. The role of a catalyst is the most dangerous one in a reaction because it speeds up the reaction without causing any harm to itself.
The same is the case with people sometimes they become the cause of wars and fights after which they slowly slip away from the scene without indulging in anything. Pen of James Luceno writes about a person who gets rogue because of his greed thus becomes the cause of a huge disturbance in the entire galaxy.

The rogue one gets the job of stealing the vital plans and then delivers them to the dark forces present on the Death Star. If this happens no one present in the star system would be safe anymore because the dark forces are coming for everyone. Jonathan Davis without any doubt narrates rogues and assassins better than anyone so this part was specially designed for a narrator like him. As far as the author is concerned he has written Tarkin: Star Wars and Star Wars: Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader so this book was not a new experience for him.
Characters present in the novel were not very large in number but the few present were effective and efficient. Fear of big war is in the air but nothing of that sort starts between the story. In the future perhaps this part will have an impact on the peace of the galaxy but till now no such thing occurred. Rebel remains successful to some extent and the future hangs in the balance for everyone.
