Harry Dresden the wizard supported by his good luck more than his powers has more enemies than friends and loved ones. Love was there in his life once but then it was taken away from him by his enemies. Susan the girl whom he loved was bit by a vampire after which she just vanished. Harry does not know what happened to Susan and though his heart still searches for her he never planned for revenge against the vampire race. That is how Harry lives his life i.e in a day-to-day routine.

After passing one day he tries to forget it to enter into the next day with a relaxed mind. Susan, on the other hand, has kept Harry’s love safe in her heart but over the years she has remained more engaged in her blood-thirsty quest. Vampires of the Red Court took away her human instincts from her and now she wants to erase them from the face of the world. Red Court also knows Susan is coming for them and they have remained in search of her weakness for years.
Now Arianna the head of the Red Court knows that Susan has a soft corner for Harry. Thus she decides to use the girl as a weapon against Harry so that the two love birds kill each other in the process. Jim Butcher talks about love exaggeratedly in the novel, the author usually does not give much time to sentiments. Peace Talks and Storm Front describe the main motives of the author but not such an exaggerated love. Here even the narrator James Marsters gives a soft voice to Dresden and Susan when they talk about their lost love.
