In the second installment of Mephistos Magic Online the plot thickens as real world consequence come to bare. The story is darker and explores further into the background of each character. As the party encounters new more dangerous foes, and harsh and dangerous life decisions are faced if not met head on. The story keeps the dark nitty gritty feel as the first one and further keeps the reader on the edge of their seats and sometimes wishing you could scream at them for one reason or another. Thus proving that Christopher Johns is a master storyteller that evokes real emotions in his readers. 10/10

Seth \ Kyvir is still convinced the game is having an impact on the real world. He is wants to get his parents, and Mona’s mom into the game to help them get skills to be safe. They group has to travel to the city of Belgonna’s Hold so Kyvir can unlock his remaining magic. Things are still strained between our group members as Mona and Seth can’t seem to find how to come to turns with how they really feel about each over. Things in Belgonna’s Hold leads them to paths they may not want to tread.

Review #3

Audiobook Crimson Queen (Mephisto’s Magic Online #2) by Christopher Johns

From the beginning, this series has built up a foundation of characters with relatable motivations. Here we added to this foundation and then sent everything sideways. Clearly, we can see that there is a lot more to the story than what we have seen so far – but that just makes us hungrier for the next installment!

The crunch takes a backseat to the story elements but is well integrated and blends in well.

Not as crunchy as some gamelits/ litrpgs but that does not take away from the well crafted world Chris as managed to create. While Mona and Seth get their feelings sorted we see even more of the other party members and get a nice addition to the team. I cant wait till I get my hands on the third book!

Beautiful seqel! More angst more romance! more action! Loved all that happened hinted at alot more world building, character focus and foundation for the chaotic epicness we gonna have in the future!
