Of course, that’s just my opinion, and in retrospect, all three, aside from Lara, had NO contact with Carpathians as adults. Lara’s memories turn out to have been tampered with, so she didn’t really see her father Razvan in his lucid, unpossessed moments. I get that she had a right to be defensive, but she was appallingly rude, not cute or spirited as Nicolas supposedly saw her. She’s lucky Nic didn’t have the choice to ignore and leave her voluntarily, because any modern, gorgeous man would have dropped her altogether for her extreme crude behavior. Lara was beyond crass, and presumptuous. Nicolas picked up her thoughts of being overweight, and she admitted he was the most handsome man she.had ever seen in her life, yet she made comments like never wanting to be with him, and how he’d have to wait forever if he thought ahe would be his lifemate. She expected him to follow/accept her rules and restrictions, yet she had no honor or manners to allow him to have his own.

I hated this female character, regardless of how much she put up with in her past. Nicolas endured his share of dark, painful times, even though he didn’t feel anything until he heard her voice. He was at least polite, well mannered. She behaves like she was raised by animals after she escaped Xavier and Razvan. Even after she comes around, I still couldn’t wrap my head around how unattractive, immature, unforgiving and pompous Lara was. Nicolas deserved someone sweeter and actually interested in behaving with dignity and class. Her experiences should have given her more compassion, empathy, rather than give her a stick up her behind. 1.5 stars.

Dark Curse audiobook in series Dark

If it werent for her 2 twin Aunts, Lara would have never made it to adulthood sane. She escaped her torture chamber with help from her 2 Aunts who also taught her everything they knew.

Now, Laras an adult with a cave spunlenking (probably not spelling it correctly) career. Is going back to the Carpathian Mountains to find her Aunts & bring them home. But, Lara finds more than her Aunts.

Nicholas De La Cruz has come all the way from the rain forests to let Mikhail know what his brother Manolito discovered. Nicholas was on the verge of either going into the dawn or becoming a vampire when he discovered his lifemate, Lara in town.

Now its your turn to read this book & find out what happens with Lara, Nicholas, Laras 2 Aunts & some of the other characters in this series. This book was excellent & was filled with lots of sex scenes between Lara & Nicholas; some answers as to why the Carpathians mostly have boys, why the women miscarry &/or lose the babies after birth.

Dark Curse audiobook by Christine Feehan

For any fan who started the Dark Series from the beginning with Dark Prince knows there is a vast difference between the first 22 books and the rest. These books are so different from those that follow I had the hardest time believing they were crafted by the same hand. I argued with friends that a ghost writer stepped in for Ms. Feehan when she was ill because it seemed her subsequent books lost something tangible. I adore these first books but not a big fan of those that follow. Friends, however, who started with Dark Storm prefer these ” newer” books.

Dark Curse audio narrated by Abby Craden

OMG I loved the womens healing ceremony. It was such a spiritual journey. Laras life has been one of the most intricate brutal and hopeful aspects of the Carpathian world. I was soooooo happy she finally made it back into the ice caves to achieve the success she so dearly needed. And Nicolas has demonstrated that even the blinder ridden views of the Hunter male can grow and change. I am soooooo addicted now! This was one of the best!

First and foremost, Lara is a pathetic excuse for someone of the Dragonseeker lineage. She is the second of Feehan’s heroines (Alexandria of Dark Gold being the first) who tries to commit suicide (Chapter 7) to escape the big, bad, domineering, Carpathian lifemate, Nicholas De La Cruz. Nicholas still isn’t as bad as his brother Rafael (Dark Secret) and you’d think that after knowing Colby (Rafael’s lifemate) he’d have gotten a clue already….but noooooo! Not happening in this book. However, unlike Rafael, Nicholas rapidly increase his learning curve.

It is obvious that Dark Curse is foundational in setting up the stories of Razvan (Dark Slayer) and Dominic of the Dragonseekers (Dark Peril). While Dominic implements a plan to infiltrate the Nosferatu, his great-great-great niece Lara (who, if we are to believe the storyline, has great power of the Dragonseekers in her veins) is committing suicide. Lara is also somewhat ignorant of her abilities. So much for the whole “Blood Is Power” mantra of the last few books. It certainly didn’t help Lara since she attempts the cowards way of escape. After learning what her father, Razvan, has endured for centuries in his attempt to defeat Xavier, protect the Carpathian people, and Lara herself, staying true to his Dragonseeker lineage, Lara just doesn’t seem to be cut from the same cloth as Rhiannon, Razvan, Dominic, Natalya, Tatijana, and Branislava. Lara is not a likeable heroine.

There are several discrepancies in this book concerning Razvan. In Dark Demon, his twin sister Natalya describes him as having tawny hair like hers with midnight blue eyes. In the Prologue of this book, Lara describes his copper hair darkening to brown streaked with gray and then in Chapter 3 Razvan has morphed into having black hair banded with platinum and turquoise eyes. I mean, really?

On the plus side: there is more detail to the Ivory/Malinov/Dubrinsky/Razvan history.

As with other Feehan offerings the typos and grammatical errors are prevalent in this book. “Laying in weight” instead of “wait” etc.
