The story Death Sentence (DI Nick Dixon Crime Book 6) by Damien Boyd is a thrilling mystery book. It is a book that kept me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. It had me on the edge of my seat and trying to put together the clues right along with Dixon to find who was responsible. It was like trying to put together a puzzle. I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. I love reading about the character of DI Nick Dixon. Once he starts his investigation there is no letting go until he finds the truth and justice. With determination, he pushes forward even when the motive and suspects are not immediately clear. This case starts with the killing of an elderly man who was found in an abandoned World War Two pillbox. The investigation turns to the man’s past and Dixon starts to uncover a conspiracy and cover-up. If he digs deep enough will it lead him to the killer? Will there be justice for the victim? How much danger is Dixon in and how far with some go to keep him from finding the truth? Read this book to find out. This book is fast paced and keeps you guessing. The suspense is high, and I had to remind myself to breathe. There are also other additional characters that you are introduced to. Some of them help Dixon and others are only there to look out for themselves. I enjoyed reading about the interactions the additional characters and Dixon have. This is a thrilling story that I would highly recommend reading.

Death Sentence audiobook in series DI Nick Dixon Crime
This was interesting, but didn’t hold my interest as much as many of the other books have. Twisty and turny, but so much of the language was over my head and that’s where I got lost. Knowing that the REALLY good stuff come before the end, this time I found it anticlimactic. But, this was a well written story, and well researched as well as already having the knowledge of being an attorney.

The sixth novel in the Nick Dixon series is more than the surface murder mystery appearing on the surface. It’ll have the reader ponder a type of social conscience of what may be right or might be fair in certain areas of the story.
We have a murder at the start and an ensuing string of multiple murders. Are they connected? They surely must be; but how?
There are many twists and turns for the reader; as well as for DI Dixon.
The plot pits UK Marines in the Falklands, years back, against thoughts of present day civilians. Its different; with a good deal of research having been done by Mr. Boyd.

Audio Death Sentence narrated by Napoleon Ryan
What I really like about the DI Dixon series is the research done on every topic, before the words hit the page. Damien Boyd knows his stuff, and what he doesn’t know, he doesn’t make up, he goes out and digs up the answer. That is one of the key items about the series, the authenticity. Then you get the thoroughly likeable characters, at least the ones we like….. heh, and then throw in the UK essence and each book is just a slice of nice. I love to sit down and have at them. I just want more, that’s the problem, must have more.

It’s been awhile since I finished the first 5 books. I’d forgotten a lot of the issues DI Nixon had been through. For me this would have been a better read if Boyd had provided more background on the past! I had to go to summaries and reviews of previous books to catch up. Having done that I thought this was a very good read with lots of twists and turns. I do however, think the supporting characters need to be better developed. I got the impression they were a bunch of dummies weighting on the boss for every move. SCI Lewis was useless!
