“Once upon a time always starts with bumbling, if you think about it.
Thats what makes the happily ever after so worth it.
Jessica Lemmon is one of my favorite authors, and this book is probably going down as one of my favorites written by her.
Fans of friends to lovers? This is for you. You’re very welcome.

“Our fingers weave together like our hands were made for each other. Sappy, but no less true.”
These characters are just incredible, because they are flawed. These are not people who live a perfect little life – they have it just as bad (and good, and in-between) as you and me.
I adore Vince. He has this great sense of humor, great taste in movies, he’s an amazing friend, and he’s just a genuinely nice guy. A nice guy who was dumped by his ex-wife and needed to pick up the pieces of his life to go on without her.
Jackie is such a strong person and I don’t think she gives herself enough credit. She was cheated on by her ex. As a consequence, she’s shut herself off from the world, especially when it comes to dating, and men. The exception being Vince – her best friend, and someone who’s been there for her just as much as she’s been there for him.

What if one of them feels a tiny bit more than friendship towards the other? What if said person pushes the other into dating someone else in a weird plan to win the other in the end?
What if it actually works? What then?

More than friends to lovers, this is a book about letting go, and trusting. It’s a seriously heartwarming story about two people who need to take a leap of faith to reach their forever.
When you’ve been burned before, being able to openly trust another person is harder than ever. But not trusting, and not taking a chance, can often lead to missing out on certain things. And on love.

So happy I read this one! I need to read the rest of the series now.

Ok, first of all this was a well written fun story with likable characters and great banter – everything I like. It also did a good job with side characters that I have a feeling we’ll see in future books. A good enough job that I plan to read the next in the series. All was chugging along well for most of the book and then it is almost like her editor said, “there isn’t enough problems between the characters – make some trouble”. All of sudden there is a major problem between the characters that seemed way out of proportion to the situation. Anyway, obviously it gets solved and it doesn’t last long – it just felt forced and out of character so I had to drop this a star.

Audiobook Eye Candy by Jessica Lemmon

Loved it! Well, most of it. (will chat about that in a sec.) This is an awesome friends to lovers/sort of love triangle story. It’s funny, it’s serious, and it sort of hurts your heart a little bit. Did I mention it was funny? I adore the friend relationship between Vince and Jackie! I mean I did a little swoony deal when he refers to her by her last name. I have no idea why, but it’s crazy cute. Not to mention how they just get each other and can be totally themselves. Way cute. Where can I get me a Vince?!

Enter runner guy (who also has THE best nicknames!) along with some master plan to end a man drought for Jackie and everything-their friendship, their feelings for each other, their trust, and their communication-get all botched. Lines are crossed and you’ll be screaming “YES!!” and then “ooooh, noooooo!!!”

The one blooper that threw me was the really close happily ever after in the middle of the story.

Lets do this, Butler.
I mean it. Its scary and big, but I mean it. Do what? she whispers.
Us.

And then they kept going with the dumb plan. And going on some more. And then it all fell apart. (this is where my heart hurt!) Cue Davis and all his wisdom, ha! (I can’t wait to get to know this guy!) But the end HEA kind of makes up for the stupidness of their communication issue.

Overall a really good, happy read!

Audio Eye Candy narrated by Eric Michael Summerer Tanya Eby

This book is very good and was a pleasure to read. The plot is a fresh one, and that alone is worth a lot in this genre of overused tropes.

The H and h are once in a while a bit tricky to figure out, but they are lovely people, and there is plenty of humor to go around with their antics.

I originally gave this book 4 stars because I erroneously thought it was published after the second book, Arm Candy. My mistake. It went live BEFORE the second book just as it should. I’d read an ARC of the second book and thought it was live way before it actually was. So I have edited this review accordingly.

It cracked me up when I got to the end and read about the author’s inspiration for this book.

I love this author’s style of writing. It’s somewhat conversational, and sometimes a bit in your face. It’s a fresh voice, so it’s fun.

A fairly good friends-to-lovers story. Vince and Jackie are best friends and also happen to share the VP position at work. Both of them are divorced, and that brought them closer together. Things change when Vince realises he wants to get out of the friend-zone but knows it won’t be a possibility if Jackie remains in her ‘I don’t date’ state. So he uses her crush on the hot jogger who runs past her office window everyday as a way to get her to not only see him in a different light but also get her dating. Unfortunately things don’t go according to plan. And both of their pasts prove to be stumbling blocks to their HEA. There were times when I thought that the book was at the stage that it could comfortably end but then I would see that I was only 52% or 78% done. So there was a smidgen too much happening. But all in all I enjoyed it and look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.
