HIS TO PROTECT is the fifth book in the “Red Stone Security” series and was not only fast paced, but had a wonderful blend of both romance and suspense. I adored Kell and Charlotte together, and thought they were made for each other. I just loved the way he loved her, which was with his entire being. I also loved the fact that she never doubts him, even when the crazy ex is running her mouth off. Although only a novella, it was an engaging read that I really enjoyed and was hard to put down. While I found the drama with Kell’s ex predictable, the showdown with the villain was not what I was expecting at all. In the end I just thought it was a lovely and compelling romantic suspense and I’d highly recommend the entire series =)

I love this series. Each book reads as a standalone, so you can read one, skip a few, read another book, and never feel like you’ve missed something. Each story offers Romance, action and suspense. so far I have enjoyed each book that I have read.
In this book, Charlotte had moved to town to let Kell know he was a father. The baby boy was 3 months old. Kell, and Red Stone Security stepped up to protect Charlottes, and her son. Charlottes was out walking with the baby, when she saw a man get murdered. Afterwards she became a target. The man didn’t want to leave behind any lose ends. Good action, with twist and turns. Great plot.

I really enjoyed this story. I loved that the hero (for once, thank you very much) was the one in love from the beginning, while the heroine was not sure about their relationship.
However, I did not give it 5 stars, because it annoyed me (so much) the references made to the fact that the heroine’s body was not as great as it was before, while the hero’s was better than ever. Yes, she had recently given birth, but was it necessary to mention that she was ten pounds heavier, her body was not as toned, her hips a little wider, and she had a C Section scar? At least, why not have the heroine give birth naturally (thus no scar)? I mean all this happened “off page”, it was just mentioned for the sake of been mentioned and that’s it. To the hero’s credit he dealt with this issue by saying he did not care about those things (and he acted as if he meant what he said), still the implication was: that yes, her body was not as hot, and not once did he mention that her body was still beautiful. All these references did not advance the plot at all, and disrupted the “fantasy read” for me. There are many romance books that do no go into specific details about the heroine’s body changes after child birth, or if they do it is in the positive side. This approach is unrealistic of course, but I read romance books, to escape from reality. So I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5.

Having read every book in the series all I can say is I hope more are to come. MS. Reus’
characters are well.. planned, believable & with humor mixed through the books. Special Forces of any branch of the military are a special different breed. The are well described in all these series from being married to one
& interacting with others from different branches of the military. Their spouses have to be strong willed people. MS Reid done an excellent job with. her characters in my humble opinion.
