A War of Gifts is a short novella that came after the 5th chapter of The Enderverse novel series. The book is written by Orson Scott Card. The author holds a very good repute in the science fiction novels where many of them became bestsellers. If you want to try one novel from the author then it has to be his Ender’s Game novel. After this one, Earth Unaware novel makes a very good read.
The narration of this chapter is done by Scott Brick and Stefan Rudnicki. It was a reasonably good vocal performance. The voices were good and so were the inflections.
The humans are up against an insect type alien race in a war. The first few battles went quite bad and now the planet Earth gets itself ready to defend itself against the imminent threat of destruction. All this was at the hands of the hostile alien enemy. The entire focus is on the training and development of the generals. They are capable of fighting such a war and win it as well.
The very long distance that exists between the interstellar spaces is something that has given hope to the ones who protect Earth. They have got all the time in the world to properly train the upcoming commanders. The training began from their childhood which would make them into an irresistible force in the Battle School, which is the high-orbital facility.
A War of Gifts would make a heartwarming novella that you can try on the weekends, holidays, or over short journeys. It explores different themes of compassion and tolerance. The vocal performance will be OK, but not outstanding.
