This is a totally new and awesome spin on the usual shifter story. So in this world theres werecats, wolf shifters, the fae and a couple other species. The wolves are public, the others not so much, and theres an intricate legal / political set up that creates roles that certain species have to abide by if called upon. Jacky is a werecat, who just wants to be left alone. But a mess from the nearby wolf run city all of a sudden turns up on her doorstep, forcing her to step up to a whole host of responsibilities. I loved the relationship between the werecats and the wolves. It was really interesting that the werecats were so much stronger / different to the wolves rather than just being a variation of the same thing. Also, I thought that the maternal role that Jacky steps into so strongly was a really phenomenal character development and was an aspect that really made me fall for her. The romance / flirtations were there, but I enjoyed them being secondary to the phenomenal storyline. Oath sworn is a bit different to Kristen\’s other books, but the phenomenal storyline, great / truly individual and interesting characters, and believable romance is all there. I really fell into this book, and cannot wait to read what comes next. Truly worth reading!!

Oath Sworn (Jacky Leon #1) audiobook in series Jacky Leon
The book got a lot of things right and was an enjoyable read. The Duty and Law setup was contrived, but it kick-started the plot and gave the characters a reason to interact. I thought the developing relationship with Carey and Jacky was well done, and it gave me a reason to care about the characters. Halfway through the book, the focus shift to Dallas and the werewolves. This change lets the author introduce a lot of new characters and tell us more about the shifter world. Jacky is very isolated, and she does not understand the system as well as she thought. The ending is basically everyone lives happily until the next sequel, except for most of the bad guys, who were killed. There is a developing relationship that might go romantic, but it was handled well. Cats and Dogs to not get along, and neither do werecats and werewolves, which adds some tension and humor to the latter half. The end of the story was wrapped up quickly and perhaps a bit too neatly, but what can you do? If you want a sequel you avoid executing the main character (or I suppose you could bring them back as an undead zombie). I enjoyed the story and will buy the sequel. The characters have room to develop and there are some interesting unresolved issues to power the next plot.

Audiobook Oath Sworn (Jacky Leon #1) by K N Banet
This writer shows promise. The world building is interesting and has plenty of potential for a series. Technically, the writing quality declines steadily. I agree with other reviewers who say there is too much repeated explanation. It may be necessary for the story but could be managed better. The language is stilted in parts. Sentences run on, with too many phrases. Loses stars on poor execution. Won\’t be buying the next book in the series.

Audio Oath Sworn (Jacky Leon #1) narrated by Savannah Gilmore
The first part of this book was boring. It didn\’t really get moving for a while. I almost gave up on on the book but I am glad I stuck it through. Jacky is a worthwhile heroine that you can get behind. I felt that the character building initially felt a little predictable. Things didn\’t really start moving along until Jacky met Heath although the interaction with Brin was interesting and one that will surely come into play later. I while I liked Jacky and Carey I thought that their interaction and connection was a bit quick. That being said Jackey came across as formidable and relatable. She didn\’t seem super human and made mistakes that were \”human\”. She and her interaction w Heath reminds me a bit of Mercy and Adam in the Mercy Thompson series. By the end I couldn\’t put this down but it took a while to get there. The \”villan\” isn\’t necessarily who I expected. Definitely recommend and contemplating the next book.

I found this book from a recommendation on the \”WICKED SCRIBES\” website … otherwise, I would have never found it. This is book one in a series but could be read as a single book but I think you will want to read the next one. I read it in one sitting and enjoyed the different take on a shifter world arc. It was written well and had a good flow to the story and there was plenty of action and good dialogue and when I got to the end I wanted more. It was not a cliff hanger ending but enough of a hook that you wanted more.
