This was another buddy read with Jamsu! It looks like we only buddy read paranormal romances! I think that Existence was one of the first kindle books I got, but never read it. Jamsu mentioned that she wanted to reread it, so I took the opportunity to finally read it. Pagan is in her senior year of high school. She knows that somethings different for her, since she can see souls. Its a secret she kept from her friends and family because she fears that they wont understand. This year is different for her because theres a soul that talks to her and interacts with her, Dank. Her day to day life changes. She has to tutor the schools quarterback, Leif, and she fights it at first, since she doesnt really like him. She doesnt know that from one on everything will change for her. The concept of the story is really interest. I havent read many books with souls and ghosts, so it was a nice change. I didnt really like how Pagan was treating Leif. It felt unfair because he was nothing but kind and good with her. There are some pretty big revelations; I didnt see all of them coming. The book left me with a big question I need answered, so well get to book 2 soon!!!

For once, I felt like this book needed to be more descriptive, which is the opposite of most other books and authors. The only characters I remember being physically described are Dank and Leif, who both have blue eyes (I think). And I understand that authors want readers to be able to project their own imaginings onto the characters they have created, but I personally like to have a background to build my images on. I also felt like we missed a lot of background info on Pagan. Usually we come into their story during an important event (or a fairly mundane one) and are filled in by the main character on everything we\’ve missed up to that point. However, I felt the writing was kinda choppy, and we didn\’t get nearly enough background info on our main character or her family/friends. (On a side note, I did enjoy the character\’s different names: Pagan, Dank, Leif, Wyatt. I felt that they helped to give these characters a unique feel and personalities, even though we don\’t know what they look like.) Overall, this is a great and interesting book. I hope we get more description and background on our characters in the next installment, so I can connect with the characters more. I will definitely be continuing this series and am excited to see where Abbi Glines takes us next.

Audiobook Existence (Existence #1) by Abbi Glines
so its an interesting story but the whole time I just didnt care if Pagan got to be with this Dank character! (by the way, what kind of name is that?) This is the first time Im reading this authors books and I just wasn\’t feeling her style of writing! I didnt feel the attraction, chemistry or even lust between the main characters! It was more annoying to me than anything! I was more interested in the paranormal/supernatural part of the story of Pagan and how she is able to see souls! Which is sad because thats not the main reason I wanted to read this book, so disappointed there!! It is an easy and fast read at least, so I cant complain that it dragged on! I read the 3 books in 4 days. Dont think Ill be reading more from this author though

Audio Existence (Existence #1) narrated by Ashley Litz
This author will be at Book Bonanza 2018 so I thought Id try her stuff out. And I kinda loved it. It was pretty classic paranormal love story. Pagan is hard headed and stubborn. I really like how she copes with her unique ability. She doesnt necessarily shy away from it, but attempts to help them, at least some of them. I admired that about her character, she didnt shy away from the unknown. And she didnt try to know all there was to know about her ability either, she just.allowed it to be a part of her as much as it was without forcing anything. It was organic and worked well in this story. I really loved how her and Deaths relationship evolved. It was a slow simmer that came close to boiling over a few times. He was a smart ass know it all with a gooey center. The lovingly way he watched over her as she slept when she was scared and when he sang to her was enough for me to wish for my own reaper to come sweep me off my feet. They had a more mature relationship than most teenagers, of course because of their other worldly knowledge. One of the best things about this book though is their ability to be intimate with each other without it getting physical! Just lovely. Ill definitely be reading more of this author in the future.

I really enjoyed this book. I have a really bizarre sense of dj vu with this book. If feels like I read this plot, story, characters in some other series. It is very similar to some other series that I have read. The difference thus far is that I like this one better. Ive read the first two books in this series. The story is about death, heaven, hell, good and evil etc. I like most of the characters. Pagan is an average likable character to me. She is strong-willed and both independent and weak at times, just like many real people. Her actions are a bit immature at times, but she is a teenage girl. Dank is also a likable character. He is Death. I hate the name Dank, even if it is short for Dankmar, it just reminds me of the definition of dank and its distracting. He too seems to be a believable character, his actions are very immature at times and you would think that wouldnt be the case since he has always been death and is immortal. Leif too is an interesting character. He is likable at time and unlikable at other times but he is a good character. The other supporting characters are just that and are average. It is easy to foresee the upcoming events in some parts of the book but I didnt feel like it detracted from the story. Overall I really enjoyed the book and the characters.
