Once Upon a Maiden Lane (Maiden Lane #12.5)

OK, this was a really cute novella. It was a love story and a mystery. It was about Mary Whitsun who grew up in the famous Maiden Lane Orphanage and was suddenly thought to be the twin sister of Lady Joanne who had been kidnapped and presumed dead 20 years before. It was the love story between Henry and Mary/Lady Cecilia. He was the Viscount who was promised to the oldest of the twins but when Cecilia was taken the marriage contract fell to Joanna. But she was in love with someone else. It turned out to be a love story about two couples: Henry and Mary and Joanna and John. It was the story where the Viscount went against his father’s wishes and chose Mary over a title. Needless to say, his father disowned Henry. I was very surprised at who the assassin was. Sure fooled me. I was so far off it was ridiculous. Which made the story a lot more interesting. There was a sex scene in this but it wasn’t until the epilogue. As to the narration: I just had to buy the audible to this novella, not bad since it was only $3.98. It was narrated by Ashford McNab and you really can’t get much better than her. Her voices, both male and female, are just awesome and she reads with such emotion. One of my top five favorite.

I remember the characters and do love them but the story it seemed was cut short. Maybe because Mary was just a servant and tho she got her man the story should of been longer..i was sad that it ended when and as it did. Sorry but the others had such wonderful ends to their stories.. Mary deserved it too.

I must say this was not Elizabeth Hoyt best of the maiden lane series however still more info and sweet. I guess novellas are hard to fit much into. Anyway sweet. Not as sexually charged as they usually are.

A great little novella. So wonderful to hear Mary Whitson story and HEA. Ashford McNabb does a splendid job of narrating as usual.

I\’m in love with being able to hear all the characters from the previous books stay close and support each other. I will be watching for much more to come!
