Stand All the Way Up

This book had all the laughs – the kind my friend call pee-your-pants-laughter – and some tears too. Sophie really kicked it up a notch this time, making me think a little harder and feel a little deeper. I sobbed through Sophie’s account of her mom’s passing and laughed out loud when her rental car wouldn’t start and she was in dire need of a nearby restroom. Sophie shares vulnerable things with her readers that I think women are sometimes too nervous to share with their real-life friends. I bookmarked many pages that I will go back and reference often and promptly ordered three additional copies for my best friends. I think reading and sharing Sophie’s words will empower us to be better friends for each other and other women we meet in our daily lives. Thank you Sophie, I’m a fan for life!

One of the best books Ive read in a while. Would love to buy it for every woman I know. Almost highlighted the whole darn thing. Sophies ability to write and make the reader laugh, ponder & learn all at the same time is truly a gift. And well all meet each other at the gates.

Reading this book is like a conversation with a dear friend. Sophie is a consummate storyteller and honest guide, full of wisdom and hilarious hot takes. I laughed, I cried and I stopped to think. Even though warmth and intimacy exudes from the pages, you’ll be encouraged to put down the book and engage your real-life friends and community. I was encouraged to extend grace, to stand up when needed and to look at my own junk with honesty. What a great book for the year of our Lord 2020.

I knew Id love this book. It made me laugh til I cried. Then it made me cry. It also made me think. It has motivated me to make some changes in my own life. Its time to stand up and do some things for me for a change. Reading this is like having a chat with a dear friend. Im also approaching 50 and have 2 teenagers. I can relate to so much of what Sophie writes about.

All of the books by Sophie Hudson are some of my favorite books to read. I laugh out loud throughout much of them and choked up and brought to tears at various stories she recounts, as well. This was no exception. I love how she intersperses Biblical lessons she learned amidst her life circumstances. I underlined many things throughout the book and have already passed it on to a loved one to read. I highly recommend this timely written book! Thank you, Sophie, for another wonderful book!
