George Guidall has narrated the series for quite a long time now and he has become a specialist in Stephen King’s works. Dealing with Stephen King’s works is not child play; the author can create fiction out of a stationary bike or a simple mobile phone. But George has handled the series well with excellent clarity in the voice. The fifth part provides the listeners a tour to the southeast. Ka-tet along with Roland is moving toward another land where people mostly depend on farming and other such activities.

On reaching the valley the team listens about strange happenings because of which the villagers a losing their lives. The investigation leads them to Pere Callahan who currently acts as the priest of the town but there was a time when he was an active marine. During his services, Pere accidentally traveled through one of the towers after which his life changed. The priest visited Roland’s domain and came out of it as a changed man who cannot exist properly in the human world anymore. Danger surrounds the valley very quickly as wolves of Thunderclap come for the bloodshed they have been planning for.
The Stand was oddly scary but still, it was recommendable for the teenagers in certain ways. This book is more like The Running Man with incidents developing new concepts and changing the story after every moment. One thing is clear that peace will come to the land once again after a fight against the demon-like creatures which want the human souls in bulk. The team gets unified against the odds but it just might not be sufficient against what is coming to them.
