This series just keeps getting better. This addition to the series gives us more intrigue at the Colony (the planet where the Coalition sends all the infected warriors). Even though I like the Atlan warriors in the Interstellar Brides series the best, the Colony books have quickly climbed to the #2 position. This story was so good that I would have read it in one sitting but gave in to sleep after the third time my Kindle hit me in the face. Living in the Colony is disheartening for those warriors that have been abandoned by the people and planet for which they fought. Now that the Colony has been included in the Bride program, there is some hope for a normal life with a mate. The author starts this book off with a shake up between a Prillon Primary and Secondary pair that changes the dynamics of this particular mating. Hunt and Tyran have done their best to adjust to life on the Colony. Hunt wears his mating collar as a symbol of hope after his testing but there has only been 1 bride in six months. Tyran\’s needs have darkened with his contamination and he follows Hunt\’s lead and does his best to keep control of himself. Enter Kristin. Due to her job tracking and taking down the dregs of humanity and saving countless women and children for the FBI has given her a major distrust of all men on Earth and knowing that the warriors in the Coalition are honorable, she signs up for the Bride program and she has some dark needs of her own and with warriors disappearing from the Colony, her skills will come in handy. While the story centers on our new threesome, the inclusion of several newly arrived Veterans (from various worlds) makes this a true ensemble story. Yes, there are some hot scenes but the overall story of trying to protect your mate makes for a really entertaining read as that protection goes both ways. The twists and turns in this story really shows us what is happening in the war and just how insidious the Hive are in their drive to conquer the universe. I cannot wait for the next Colony book as this one left a dangling thread that needs to be dealt with using extreme prejudice. I cannot recommend this series strongly enough. I purchased this book but I am also on the author\’s review team as it puts these fantastic books in my hands several days before they go on sale. (I am waiting for Amazon to catch up and put my VERIFIED PURCHASE tag on this review).

Kristin faces a conundrum many go through: she’s a competent and capable woman, it’s just that when it comes to her sexual preferences, she is aroused by not being the one in control. Very few understand that this is not a reflection of her in her life outside of sex. It’s further complicated by the fact that she’s been an FBI agent fighting human sex trafficking for years. The pretend that she enjoys in sex looks too much like the reality that the criminals she fights are. Not many can separate fantasy from reality. She’s mated to two men who cater can satisfy her various sexual desires, the two of them being a perfect balance to each other and her needs. And while physically they are already in sync, these two are a little single minded and have a lot to learn from Kristin. They have been through hell, and that trauma makes them obsessed with keeping Kristin safe. But there is more to Kristin for them to love than just the sex they have. Kristin teaches them that they are a partnership: she protects them just as much as they protect her. She teaches them that part of what they love about her are her professional talents and her passion for her work – her NEED for this work. If they cut her off from that, she will wither and die emotionally. These two are frustratingly slow to catch on to this simple fact, but they come around. For Tyran, there is a different sort of healing that is needed than what we saw with Ryston and Maxim. But the aggressive passion that he and Kristin share is an outlet, and her meeting his dominance outside of the bedroom with just as much of her own play a big part in his healing. Kristin and Rachel also show the promise of a great friendship. They are different in complimentary ways, and the two of them together can get far with keeping the Hive away from their mates and their planets. We also meet a wonderful team of new Hive citizens, including an Atlan and a Hunter who are both incredibly charming and adorable. Though he said little, I found Kiel to be particularly endearing. They go with Kristin on her mission to rescue her captured mates, and from the beginning there is clear mutual respect. This group also combines their complimentary talents, and I look forward to seeing them work together more!

Audiobook Mated to the Cyborgs (Interstellar Brides: The Colony #2) by Grace Goodwin

I eagerly await every new book released by this author and I am never disappointed. Our heroine is jaded FBI investigator, Kirstin Webster, a woman exposed to much in her position in the human trafficking dept but who needs a partner who can take control over her in the bedroom and meet her specific needs. Unable to find A suitable male on Earth, she applies to Interstellar Brides to find her a partner and is matched to two discarded Prillion warriors on The Colony. Step up Captains Hunt Treval and Tyran Dakar, veterans of the war against the Hive who had been captured and modified by their captors, but who escaped before their work was completed. Now displaying the silvery marks and enhanced strength of a Hive soldier, they are considered tainted and rejected by their people and sent to the Colony to live with others also denied a return to their respective coalition planets. Hunt has always desired a mate, kind, caring and thoughtful, he has chosen his best friend, Tyran, as his second (Prillion\’s come as a pair, as a precaution there will always be a male to care for their mate should anything happen to either of them.) Both men have undergone Brides testing, but due to Tyrans \”darker side\” he is surprised to learn that he has been matched to Kirstin as her primary mate and is her near perfect match. She needs Tyran to take control and give her what she needs in bed and in return, gives him what he needs, her total submission. Although initially taken aback, Hunt is determined to claim Kristin alongside Tyran and willingly accepts the role of second. Kirstin realises that she needs him just as much as Tyran as his gentleness provides the perfect balance to Tyran\’s more controlling side. As with all Ms Goodwin\’s feisty girls, she needs to feel useful and when Colony soldiers start to go missing, Kirstin feels her investigation skills would be helpful in locating them. Her mates do not agree, determined to protect her from harm but when they also suddenly disappear, it is up to Kristin, along with three new arrivals, to find them before it is too late and they are lost forever to the Hive. Although this book can be read as a standalone, I would thoroughly recommend reading the other books as their are many crossover characters and it is always good to know their stories too. Added to this, that they are just fantastic stories as well and you are on to a winner.

Audio Mated to the Cyborgs (Interstellar Brides: The Colony #2) narrated by Kylie Stewart

Kristen, a F. B. I. agent undergoes testing as an Interstellar Bride, after several dangerous cases. She is matched to Tyran and Hunt, warriors of the Colony as the second bride sent there. With the disappearances of warriors, the reappearance of the traitor Krael and horror of a Hive enclosure hidden within the Colony including the location of her Mates. With help from both based on the Colony and extra patrols by Prillion Battleships all ends well. Plus a few surprises. Highly recommended.

This can be read as a stand alone, but it would be better enjoyed as part of the series. A number of the other reviews have give a reasonable summary of the book so I will keep my summary simple. Well written and intriguing sex scenes do not get in the way of the plot or the characters but it does add to the enjoyment when the books are read in sequence. The book is easy to read and I will be reading the next shortly
