I liked this book. I found the story and other characters entertaining, although Jane could have been a bit less guilt-ridden and anxty. Not all the bad things that happened in this world were her fault! If you enjoy being lost in a filled with paranormal people, you will like this book and the others that follow in the series.
The book had good detail, which I enjoy in a book. Jane does put herself in situations you’d think a security expert would know to avoid. But this is a fun series to read. Beast is funny and a cool twist, and the vampires are pretty interesting on their own. I look forward to enjoying the rest of the series….like that there are many books to follow as I like getting caught up in a world away from this one.

Blood Trade audiobook in series Jane Yellowrock
Could be 4 Stars but The Rick/Jane/Bruiser triangle dropped it to 2.5 Stars.
Warning: Some spoilers in the rant section
I have the same issue with this book that I have had with all of the Jane Yellowrock books. I like the plot lines and the monsters in them, I also enjoy most of the side characters but I end up hating the silly and ridiculous love triangle crap thrown in.
So we will discuss the plot line first. Jane is stuck, after the events at the end of book 5 she now cant get very far away from New Orleans and Leo. At least for now and in the beginning she is a little bit pouty about it. But eventually she stops throwing herself a pitty party and starts to get on with it because there is a job to do. Killing vamps.
The vamps in this are outside of NO so Jane is back to Mississippi to help kill some Neutraliza vamps. But these vamps seem even more hopped up on something than normal and there are a lot of people missing in the area including a large percentage of witches.
I usually like the story line. Yes this book feels a little on the filler side of things in many ways but the addition of this story with the vamps and more of those watches that smell of dead meat and magic we learn more about the vampires lore of the past and what some would possibly like the world to be where humans are merely food to be taken and drained at will.
I liked the new character Bobby and his history with Jane. They were kids in a foster home together and Jane always protected Bobby since he is a little mentally challenged but still has some special gifts. Hopefully if she can fill her life with some people who actually care about her then she will realize what a jerkface Rick is and get over it already.

Audiobook Blood Trade by Faith Hunter
As in previous reviews, we see Jane as a strong vampire hunter, cat fast, smart, and once again surprised in the world of vampire. Returning to Natchez, Mississippi to work for the master of the city, Jane and her “crew” are dispatched to fight a growing number of Naturaleza, (blood drinking their victims to their death, vampires). Of course when the battles start, they are something “more”.
This book puts Jane on a path to awareness of her self, her past, and her spirituality, both in her guilt ridden Christianity, and her Cherokee skinwalker heritage. She becomes aware that perhaps she has made a good impression on people in her past. They felt that she gave them protection no one else had ever offered. I feel that some of her separateness falls away. She understands that sometimes “family” isn’t always a blood relationship after all.
The action is well thought out, and in many cases, very strategic. Her partnership with the Younger brothers continues to grow. She finds that she can actually depend on someone to watch her back for the first time in her life.
Rick is still a thorn in her side. Bruiser is still hanging on, but seems to be out of the running for “mate”. She does get the chance to tell him what she felt like when betrayed, and has and uncustomary emotional outburst. I think that she made her point quite clear.
As Douglas Meeks said in his review, his revenge junkie wasn’t met. I think that Jane isn’t vengeful, but gets her revenge in many small ways. She has been “tracked” by her “connection” for Leo and her telling Bruiser that their conversation was being listened to was a small, but fruitful, stab at another person out to use her for his own gain.
Witch magic, dream walkers, new, effective, computer wizards, a greater understanding of Vampire origins, and of Vampire politics,(always the politics), compound to give Jane a newer “database” to work with in the future. This is one free from old ties and one that Jane can use for her own means.
In the beginning of the book Jane is depressed from the binding of Beast to Leo. Beast thinks nothing of it, I think that Beast is way more, simplistic in her thought and speech, but wise in more complex ways that she first appeared. She doesn’t give Jane all of her information, we haven’t seen this before and I think that there are many more items to come up.
Jane has been given opportunities to make strides toward family ties. Her lonely existence is now filled with secondary characters that have great potential. She is almost on the path to having friends.
This series continues to hold its reader in thrall. So many possibilities, so many plots. Thank You Faith Hunter for another compound tale in the mystery know as Jane Yellowrock.

What can I say?
Faith Hunter keeps the saga with more vamps, more mysteries and more complications for a Jane that’s finally “out of the closet” while trying to stop an extremly faction of the Naturaleza vampires while her personal life gets in the way.
Bruiser’s new and strange nature, Rick’s hurting feelings and the distance between her and the Everheart family will only make things worse.
This book points to an AWESOME continuation though I don’t know why Blood Trade doesn’t feel as epic as the previous books.
