I am always very satisfied with Debbie Macombers books, and this is no exception. As always it has been a joy visiting old friends and being introduced to new ones. This book basically revolves around Corrie and Roy Mc Affee, the recidents of 50 Harbor Street. Someone has started sending them post cards with little messages attached, not necessarily threatening messages, but it’s still scary enough to keep them on their toes.
There’s also the ongoing saga involving Grace and Cliff. They hit a snag in their relationship in the last book, and now they are trying to rectify that whole situation and finds their way back to each other again, but can they actually do it? Or will they decide to just give up and go their separate ways?
My heart went out to Maryellen and Jon. It’s like these two just can’t catch a break. Hopefully in the next book things will finally start looking up for these two.
Allison and Anson are another young sweet couuple who find themselves in precarious situations. I truly believe Anson is innocent, but I know why he feels he has to leave. His life hasn’t been a bowl of cherries, and yes…he made a big mistake once, but even then I don’t think he had intended it for things to turn out like they did. At the end of this story we are left wondering who burnt down the restaurant, but I truly do not believe it was Anson.
There are a few other couples in this story: like Jack & Olivia, Rachel & Nate, Cecilia & Ian, Roy & Corrie, Linnette & Cal, Gloria & Chad, Bob & Peggy, and last but not least…Justine & Seth.

50 Harbor Street audiobook in series Cedar Cove
This book, like EVERY book that I have read so far is wonderful. You get to the end of one book and you just have to have the next one. You feel like you know the Residents of Cedar Cove and can picture them. You can relate to the issues they have and your heart breaks with theirs when something happens. I live in Washington, so when there’s mention of different cities around here, I can picture it. I just started #9 and it’s so hard to put down.
Debbie Macomber, Please never stop writing, You are one of my favorites.

Audiobook 50 Harbor Street by Cedar Cove
I find Macomber’s books hard to read because she doesn’t have a major person or couple. In this novel, she jumps from couple to couple without giving any real deapth to any character or situation. Ihad trouble remembering who was who. By the time I remembered who the particular couple in a chapter were and what their specific background or issue was, the chapter was half finished. Each couple could have been the central characters of a single novel. Their problem or issue was interesting and, while I do wonder what will happen to Seth and Justine now that their restaurant burned down, to Marrianne and Jon with her difficult pregnancy and their financial problems, as well as Grace and Olivia and the other women and their husbands, none of the couples have become real enough to me (I don’t know them well enough) for me to commit to reading the next novel to try to find the answers to my questions.

Audio 50 Harbor Street narrated by Sandra Burr
As always it has been a joy visiting old friends and being introduced to new ones. In this book we are particularly following Corrie and Roy Mc Affee, the recidents of 50 Harbor Street. The couple has been receiving curious postcards over a period of time, and when the mystery is finally solved, it will mean a lot more to Corrie and Roy than they would ever have envisioned. Their story is a perfect example that although Cedar Cove is a peaceful little town, this doesn’t mean life cannot be dramatic enough.
In this book we are also meeting single Linette, Gloria and Allison, and following Rachel and Linette further in search of true love.
When charming David, son of Charlotte’s husband Ben, suddenly shows up in Cedar Cove, his step sister Olivia is not fooled. There is obviously more to this guy than his elegance and good looks.

So this was the first one in this series I have read. Just to be honest, I did finish it. But it is sooooo predictable and so very contrived. Girl loves boy, girl gets boy. Girl loses boy. But wait! I have to read the next book to find out what happens. Characters were interesting, I’ll give it that much. Also, I didn’t like how the continuity was set up; or not. So many names and people. Four chapters later, we read about the same people.
I usually love this run of books but it really annoyed me that this one finished so abruptly without solving the mysteries which evolved throughout the book. I think this is a ruse by the author to force us to buy the next one to see what happens. Well, that is not good enough and I am totally unimpressed by it. It has great disappointed me and I feel I have been conned. Shame on you Ms Macomber. I expected better of you.
