Oh my goodness, the way the first book ended, I had to dive right into this one! I’m absolutely in love with this series. It’s been a really long time since I fell this hard for a series. Not since I fell in love with The Covenant series by Jennifer L Armentrout and The Psy-Changling series by Nalini Singh have I felt this way about a book series.
This book picks up right where book 1 ended. Jessa finds herself fleeing to the marked sanctuary in Romania. She brings her quad friends but her feeling for Braxton are beginning to change. She’s always felt a strong friendship for him but now she’s thinking she wants it to be more. Afraid to ruin their friendship but struggling to deal with these new feelings, she has to decide what’s important to her. And besides that, all around her things are falling apart. Her sister is getting way too involved with a set of twins that reek of evil. What’s a dual shifter to do?
We learn more about the quads as their role in the rise of the king becomes clear. Max is having some struggles and we aren’t really sure what’s up with him. Tyler definitely has some issues going on with the very cute witch Grace. And Jacob is the stable one. I was glad that Louis continues to be part of the story. I always feel better when that scorer is around. I love all the secondary characters and it was while reading this book that I discovered there are more books beyond the trilogy. I quickly bought Broken Compass and I seriously NEED to know when Magical Compass will be out and available for me to snatch up! AND I want to know if there will be a book for Jacob!
The writing in these books are great. I enjoy the detail that she gives her readers. Sometimes I feel like it breaks the flow of the action but generally I enjoy it. I adore the characters she’s developed and the story is magical. Who can resist a set of quads who have protective tendencies over a best friend shifter girl? Certainly not this reader. I’d give these book 5 whole stars except for just a few little bits that bugged me. It’s not enough to stop me from loving these books. They are just not quite as polished as they could be.
I’ve been listening to the audio books and really enjoying the narrator. I have a few books that get listened to over and over again. I use them as stress relief. I can listen to them with half an ear because I know them so well. They relax me while I’m grading or working on lesson plans. I turn to them when I can’t sleep. This series has earned that status – a big deal for me. I will have them on repeat. Finish the series only to start it again. It’s a favorite thing of mine to do.
If you love paranormal romance, you MUST read this series. It is just that good. Any PNR lover is going to want these books. I can’t recommend them enough.

Some spoilers in my review, so please do not read if you don’t want to know.
I usually do not read YA books. For some reason I find a lot of the character are too immature or the story just doesn’t keep my interest. I discovered Jaymin Eve by reading the first book in her Walker Saga. The first book was free and the description sounded really interesting. From that book on, I was hooked. Ms. Eve can write great sexual tension, awesome Heros that are alpha, possessive and dominant. The heroines are strong, powerful and can hold their own. The world building and story telling is so descriptive and flows so well that you feel like you have made friends that you have to keep up with. Love her books!
On to my review of this book:
I loved the first book in this series (Dragon Marked) but I loved the second more. I wasn’t sure if I was going to love this series as much as the Walker Saga but this book sold me completely on the series. I loved Jessa and Braxton. I was so happy that they finally got together. I also like that some of the Compass brothers also found their mates. Braxton was so great. Everything that I love in my heros. Alpha, possessive, caring and absolutely devoted to the heroine. Jessa I felt was more mature in this book as well. She didn’t have TSTL moments and she thought things through. I am looking forward to finding out more about her sister and what is going on with her.
The book was great and I highly recommend it.

Audiobook Dragon Mystics (Supernatural Prison #2) by Jaymin Eve
what a crazy rollercoaster! Jessa life is turn upside down and if this crazy prophecy is real, she and her friends are in alot of trouble. I love the chemistry with the quad – jacob, tyson, braxton, and max! they share a unique brotherly bromance and with jessa, it’s just beautiful. She finally takes a big chance on braxton and the outcome is pure fire and heart!!! Everyone has a purpose, and im pretty sure even her twin, Misha. I know people are upset with her, shes the one making huge mistakes in the story, but i cut her some slack because shes young and not jessa. Shes her own person. with flaws and everything. theres always that ONE person, right? that makes you face palm every time. well its her. but she also seems broken in so many ways that i feel for her. Im sad that things didnt work out with her and max, but im hoping she still gets her HEA somewhere along this series! ITS not over!! so anything cant happen! cant wait for more!#Jessa&Braxton

WOW, this book was the “Bomb”, I don’t even know where to start, this action packed emotionally charged book had my emotions rolling really I did not even want to put this book down ,Jessa, right from the beginning is a very strong and loyal shifter dealing with multiple emotional upheavals, finding out her mother returned after being apart from her for years, also finding out she had a sister who was also a twin and Dragon marked. She has four quad brothers that she grew up with and are her best friends, each of the quads are different supernatural species. Finding out that all of the Dragon marked were not killed but imprisoned in especially harsh conditions, being chained to walls in the underground, women, men, babies and children treated like garbage.Jessa felt compelled to release the imprisoned, but also facing the knowledge the evil Dragon king that was killed a thousand years ago is to be resurrected through all the Dragon marked. On top of the cherry sundae her true mate one of the Compass quads, the mate bond is only half formed! This series is absolutely a great read! You have a little fantasy, romance, action, paranormal ect. something for anyone who loves books. This author kicks literal butt in the literature world,. Jessa, her newly discovered sister Mischa, and her four gorgeous best friends, are all on their way to Romania. They have to escape the powerful dragon-hunters, and they have to learn more about the mysterious dragon-marked.
This kicks off where Dragon Marked left us. Jessa is on the run from the dragon-hunters – the original quads, who are very old, and very powerful. In tow, she has pack and her sister, none of which would leave her side, even if there was a choice.
The world that Eve has created just keeps getting bigger, and more complex, building on what you know from the first book in the series. There’s the history of the dragon-marked, and the introduction of the dying fae realm.
There’s also the developing relationships. Mainly between Jessa and Braxton, as she finally stops fighting the fact that she wants to be with him. But also her sister Mischa, finding her place in the group dynamics; and Max’s mate – I did not see that one coming!
I also like how there’s a symmetry between the old quads and dragon-twins, and the new. There are surprising new power reveals for all our main characters, as they embrace their birthright, whilst still fighting the roles that people are trying to pin on them.
So why only the four stars, when Dragon Marked got the full five?
Dragon Mystics is a good book by any standard, but it just didn’t captivate me as much as the first.
On a small note, I felt that it wasn’t as smooth relaying some information. I don’t know whether Eve changed track between writing book 1 and 2, but there were parts were there was a rush to explain something, and you obviously know it’s gonna play a part. Like introducing Sirens; the two-mate story from the guys’ mother. There are things that Jessa doesn’t know, or the brothers have been withholding from her; which clashes with… well let’s just say, Jessa doesn’t strike me as the type of girl to not know stuff, and she’s not afraid of kicking the arse of anyone who keeps a secret from her.
The second thing that annoyed me was how obsessed Jessa was with Braxton.
And I know, some of you are going to be shouting at me that this is a Paranormal Romance, and that Jessa and Braxton are trying to come to terms with the sudden rush of many feelings and physical needs.
Every reader has a different romance level, and while some will be going boz-eyed with pleasure, most of you won’t be surprised that I don’t have a romantic bone in my body. Dragon Marked just worked – it perfectly balanced the adventure and sexiness.
In Dragon Mystics, there are solid chunks where the adventure is put on a back burner, so Jessa can concentrate of the important task of jumping Braxton’s bones (and everything else anatomical).
Anyway, it is still a very good series, and I’m definitely continuing with it!
