I LOVE every book Ive read from Nora Roberts vast library of murder mystery/romance.
However when I read the summary to this book I avoided it. Im not even certain as to why. To me the summary failed to pike my interest enough for me to purchase it. Over and over again I would choose something different. Finally I gave up and purchased it, believing that the book itself would win me over. Boy did it! It took no time at all to draw me in to the intrigue of this book. It won me over with its mystery, tender emotions, and horrible deceit. The characters were believable; so much so that I could picture each one in my mind. The way each of them looked, spoke, and felt emotion. I’m sure every Nora Roberts fan has their own list of favorites. To me Birthright comes in a VERY close second to my favorite, The Witness. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone in question. It will make you appreciate the familial bonds that have such a hold on most of us, and make you anticipate, as I do, the next Nora Roberts novel to hit the market.

I absolutely LOVED this book. The archeology storyline was interesting and exciting. The mystery of the kidnapping/adoption was very well written. And the characters were so well developed that I missed them when the book ended. Most of all, as an adopted person who has met a biological sibling, I loved the time Nora takes in exploring these biological connections. And Im doing so, asks the question: who are we when what we know is a lie? Who is family? What makes family? Blood? History? Love?
Excellent book. One of my favorites.

Audiobook Birthright by Nora Roberts
I love reading about a heroine who is an archaeologist or science nerd. This started out great because of the sparks between her & her sexy, charismatic ex-husband and the archaeological background. But then it comes to light why she divorced him in the first place. For some reason, the supposedly strong, no holds barred heroine finally accepts her ex’s excuses & her friend’s justifications that he’s just naturally affectionate and handsy with other women. To the very end, her ex sees nothing wrong with flirting & touching other women. He assures her that she’s the only one & it means nothing to him. HA! And the heroine accepts it & sees it his way. Grrrrrr…! A man or woman putting hands around and/or pressing a hand on the lower back while firting or being over friendly, is a sign of sexual possessiveness. No wonder so many women hated the heroine, saw his flirting & touchy feely ways as a green light to ignore her & seduce him, while they were married & after when they met up again. What a disappointment, since this is well written, with a great murder mystery.

Audio Birthright narrated by Bernadette Quigley
I’ve been in love with Nora Robert’s stories for years. Her storytelling has always been able to transport me somewhere else. Doesn’t matter which name the story is under. There’s always grace in her female characters. Along with intelligence, courage, stubbornness and sometimes snarkiness. I love when multiple female characters in the same book have these characteristics. Her male characters are just as realistic. From the main characters to the support characters you just can’t go wrong with a book by Nora! This is a good long book. It has romance, mystery, family, happiness, sadness and anger. Gives entertainment, pulling you into the story . If you’re looking for a great story, this is it.

This is one of those books I wish some Hollywood producer would read and think; “Man, this would make a great movie! ” This book has it all; mystery, danger, romance, and characters that are fully fleshed and multi-layered. Renowned archeologist Dr. Callie Dunbrook is used to digging into the past for answers, but suddenly it is her own past she must explore in a desperate search for the truth of her real identity. As she painstakingly uncovers her past the danger grows even more deadly, and close enough to make her wonder who she can trust. I loved this book, and recommend it for anyone looking for a fast-paced read. Oh yes, as someone who studied Anthropology and Archeology in college the details are spot on!
