This is gold… I imagine Alexander McCall Smith and Patrick Taylor at a dinner chatting…their lovely, sensitive, sensibilities meeting…discussing their success and writing…oh, to be a participant at such an event as that!!!A lovely vacation from the horrors of the virus haunting us all right now…the horrifying loss of civility and sharing our time and lives together as nations, allies, friends…to be in a community that is a place where people care so much about each other. More please soon, Dr. Taylor????

I have loved this series. The characters have become like friends and neighbors. I like the introduction of new characters in each of the series. This was a good read, but not my favorite book in the series. This book had a little too much medical for me. I\’m pretty well versed in medicine for a layman, but this was a little over the top. I also thought Sue was a little too whiny. The one thing I do love about these books is the excellent editing. No misspellings, typographical error or misprints. They are a joy to read. I look forward to the next book, probably learning more about the new doctor to the group.

Audiobook An Irish Country Welcome by Patrick Taylor

I love Patrick Taylor’s books. I have a background in healthcare (albeit in laboratory work), so I really appreciate his accurate medical writing when referring to patients in the stories. This one especially hit home for me, 1.having had a difficult pregnancy with my twin daughters in the early 1990s, and 2. having lived in Derry for a year. My husband and I lived in the Bogside area of town (2014) and I learned so much about “The Troubles” from local people who lived through it. We traveled extensively throughout Ireland and N Ireland and although neither my husband nor I have any Irish ancestry, it felt like our second home. Taylor’s characters may be a bit exaggerated sometimes, but I swear I know some of these people. His books always “take me home”.

Audio An Irish Country Welcome narrated by John Keating

The stories that Patrick Taylor writes are always a delight. The reader becomes very attached to all the characters and even the pets! I look forward to each new book — it is like comfort food for my soul. Hope he keeps them coming. Looking forward to #16. This particular book had a lot of detailed medical terms and descriptions which may not appeal to some people, but I loved it. I love learning about medical procedures and appreciate it when authors incorporate that information into the story.

It was so good to get together once again with all the friends at Ballybucklebo! Just what was needed in this crazy pandemic. Just to get away, catch-up, have some laughter and stress relief. Highly recommend this series, it will not disappoint.
