**Spoilers**
I made it about halfway through the first chapter, and couldn’t continue. Moving quickly is an asset in a lot of storytelling, as is the excellent spelling/grammar that I observed so far. But in less than 2,000 words (roughly), the protagonist goes from humble workman to hero, by hitting his head.
What made it worse was the utter lack of creativity. ‘Princess Jasmine’, ‘Evil Jamar’, ‘Joe the Plumber’ … it reads like an edited fanfiction of a Disney movie I shall not name. Hope to return for refund.

This is completely unlike his other stories I’ve read. It reads like a child retelling a Disney tale with profanity added. For me, there was no flow. The characters flip-flopped their personality with every other paragraph. Complete disappointment.

Audiobook Princess Master by Eric Vall
Eric Vail had an idea here. This world is definitely well inspired by the Disney versions of the various princess tales, with this story covering the characters from Aladdin (Jessamine and Jamar) and Cinderella (Cienna) The names are different, but the descriptions of the realms and marriages and lives… etc.
But he wrote this as a bit of a “man transported to magical land” tale, dropping in Joe the Plumber who thanks to his limited knowledge of things manages to rise up and be the hero the land needs.
Of course, this is a harem offering, which means that the princesses get to take off their clothes with the hero. (sadly, I can’t say that those scenes were all that exciting.) The rest was a very basic tale with a few twists and turns, but not much more. Eric did try extremely hard to keep the hero underpowered (too hard in my opinion, the characters seem to run away a lot.). And the princesses didn’t exactly throw themselves at his feet. (They doth protest too much, me thinks.) But trying to improve the story by not holding to the formula for the genre just made the story more bland than normal.
Its not bad, but there is no real life in the tale. I found that I couldn’t care for the hero (he was closer to a zero), and that the relationships didn’t seem to have a foundation so they never sparkled and shined. It was just a tale, much like so many others.
Its not bad, so its 3 stars, but I just didn’t find much to excite me.

Audio Princess Master narrated by Alex Perone Marissa Parness
This book brings an ordinary man into into a fairytale world with what appear to be slightly older, more mature versions of the Disney Princesses, only reimagined into a tale that would make the brothers Grimm turn green with envy. It starts out in our world, and quickly introduces us to our very unlikely hero, Joe the plumber. For him, what starts as a normal day fixing someone’s pipes turns quickly into him helping defend an Arabian palace from a traitorous advisor and his undead army. From that point on, the story progresses very quickly. From creating incendiary devices, to rescuing another princess, to swordfighting, this book is jam packed full of action and adventure. The other parts I really enjoyed were when Joe gets more involved with the Princesses and learns more about their backstories. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

You know how some books just grab you early on and don’t let go and others you feel like you never need to know what happens to any of the characters because you aren’t invested in them or the book? This book sits right in the middle of those opposing feelings (although given Eric Vall’s track record I’ll give this book a slightly higher that normal rating). I feel like the beginning of the book was underdeveloped. I thought the premise was great, the action wasn’t bad either and the sex felt like a natural but slightly rushed progression. By the end of the book I was a bit more invested and enthusiastic about what comes next for the MC and his girls. This book could go either way and be his next super hit or a flop. I’ll buy book 2 to see where things go and how they progress from here. Like I stated before, Eric Vall’s writing credit is good with me so I’ll always at least try the 2nd book.
