Pirates with their stupendous ship known as the Flying Dutchman have played a significant role in saving the planet many times. They have pulled off missions that horrified the rest of the soldiers around them.
This has made them a force that is the United Nations’ first pick in every mission around the galaxy. Whenever there is a chance of any threat from an alien race this band of pirates is sent to investigate and on most occasions they have to fight too to save the planet.

On their ship, they have an alien known as Al who has the power to tell the future or at least provide the team with proper hints about it. Al has guided them on all expeditions and now he is dying. The crew is trying to save Al but they think he will never reappear in his original form after this. As the crew tries to save Al it remains unaware that something big is coming their way.
The Flying Dutchman is not in a position to fight another massive battle and still, it becomes a part of an alien war. Craig Alanson sends the team on this last expedition after which their chances to return are less than ten percent. But that’s how the author plays in his works, during Brushfire and Columbus Day he took things to an extreme from which there was no return and then in the end everything finished nicely. Captivating narration by R.C. Bray keeps our sympathy with the merry band of pirates who on many occasions have suffered undeservedly. This time they might end up in space far away from home.
